I've just checked my domestic flts. on booked flts within north america nov. and dec. '10 all in economy.

jfk-yul 4463 20/11 is showing twice in my itinerary and against one of the flts. says space held flt. and underneath it affected sc Does anyone have any idea what the meaning above mean before I call the aa aussie phone number given on site?

The other flt. does not say confirmed as when originally booked. Expert flyer shows this particular flt. aa4463 leaving abt. 8:30pm and not the 17:10pm as booked. I know time changes happen but wondering if this has anything to do with the words above. both of the same flts. still show the original time as booked.

Also I looked at the codes to gain sc and the yul-dfw flight fare code is Q and I can't find that particular code in the airline status codes? Does this mean for this flt. I don't get any sc?

Thanks for your help.

My guess is that there has been a schedule change (affected sc) and they have held space for you on the changed flight (space held flt) pending your confirmation or acknowledgement of the change. I suggest you call AA or your agent to query.

I'd be interested in hearing how the OP got on with this, as I've just noticed that my aa flights in nov are showing the same sort of thing.

I had to call the australian aa number to have flts. changed to the new times. Flt. changes occured two times thus far, hopefully no more. The first time change the price was less, but of course it was still at the original price. I didn't even ask what price was second time, just have to cop price changes buying cheapest ticket. Bit annoyed that I'm not able to book premium seats as Gold, but that's the way it goes I guess. When are you flying in Nov. ? Good luck

I called AA australia and enquired. It appears to have been a schedule change. I'm flying into LAX on 25/11 QF15 ex BNE and was originally planning on flying
AA2242 to DFW @1145 ==> AA848 DFW to ATL @1405.
(december ATL>DFW>LAX sectors unaffected)
My flights were not booked as a codeshare with QF so the original flights that they held space for me on, were not suitable as they allowed me to only have 1hr 20min to transit LAX (hahahaha if only!)

SO
There were other flights to DFW but nothing that linked to ATL nicely. I've had to settle for
AA1092 LAX-ORD @2310 ===> AA3807 ORD-ATL @0600.
I've flown these sectors before, but they're really not very pleasant. Oh well any port in a storm... at least the Admirals club in ORD is nice, and I can amuse myself in LA for the 15 or so hours i'll be transiting there. The showers in the Admirals Club in LAX are quite nice, and there's a nice imax cinema and some food places in nearby culver city.

I am amazed that that is the best connection to ATL given a 7am arrival into LAX. :shock::shock::shock:

I'm not clear where YUL fits in this schedule either.......

From talking to the agent, it seems that AA had adjusted their schedule generally since booking. (I booked back in Aug) I should think that several routes have been affected, not just the ones mentioned. It seems that both the itineraries mentioned involve AA hubs (LAX, DFW, ORD, JFK, MIA) so I'd say it's just been a general chop and change on AA's part.

As for the ATL connection, tell me about it! I could easily go direct with Delta from LAX because ATL is a hub for them, but I have Admirals Club with AA (via QP), and the price (amazingly) was a LOT cheaper.
The other upside is that I have a mate travelling with me for the first time to the states, so he'll enjoy being able to see a bit of LA.

I had a look on aa.com and there seemed to be 1015 and 1055 flights to DFW that connected to ATL flights with late evening (9pm?) arrivals into ATL. I'm not clear why they cant use either of these options (unless they're full perhaps)?

Surely that's a "legal" connection (~0715--> 1015 or 1055) from QF15? I was ok booking AA2 the 0930 to JFK (mind you, QF15 was late so i missed it and ended up on AA4/the 1230 anyway..... :evil:)
