Does anyone know how Qantas "targets" their double points offers?

My wife, my son and I are all Qantas Gold Frequent Flyers.
Yesterday my wife and son received an email from Qantas offering double status credits and Qantas points, however I did not.
I rang Qantas to query why and was told that Qantas "targets" different groups of people with different offers.
Does anyone know if this is the case and whether there is any method to their discrimination?
 
There's a thread on this already. No one here knows or if they do they've not fessed up.
 
Welcome aboard randy, there is lots of discussion on the topic - I don't know and I don't think anyone on AFF definitively knows
 
It's a black box. Same as the Woolworths and Coles targeted promotions
