Do you earn point when purchasing a Mastercard gift card.

When you purchase a Mastercard gift card (with extra $5 fee) can that earn FB points (and SC if you buy over $100) or would they be classified as a normal gift cards and not earn points ?
 
I received the base 105 points on purchasing the Coles Gift Mastercard plus the bonus 1,000 point offer on at the moment.
