Do QFF members with higher status get their QF newsletters first?

I'm a bronze and just received my email newsletter about an hour ago.

The minute I got the email, I clicked on the link for the free movie tickets, but the allocation has been exhausted.

So do platinum and gold members get their newsletters before others?

Yes.

Emails from Qantas do seem to be sent out in "FF status" order and I believe also in FF number order within those status ranks.

Thanks for the quick reply...

I guess the other solution is to keep checking the QF website for the newsletter...

I'm silver and got my newsletter this arvo - Dispite clicking on the link within about 30 seconds of the email arriving there were only seats available in QLD and SA.

:(

Another possibility - is that because there are so many frequent flyers, the system that sends out the emails probably takes a while to process all of the email addresses. I run software like this for some clients of mine - and with a database of say 6,000 you will have a 10 minute delay from the first to the last email. Obviously Qantas has a much bigger list than 6,000.

So it could be that you're just lower down the list and it takes a while to get to you - but not necessarily in order of status. :)

The answer is certainly yes; two years ago, my family as SG, QP and NB regularly received emails in status order.

Same thing happened when WP, QP & NB.

And still happens as QP, SG (PG), NB.

Tonight:
Moi WP - 17:28
SWMBO SG - 18:01
mini Serfty NB - 20:04

Mine arrived at 6.13pm. email starts with w, silver status number is 0124xx_

Actually another Australian airline takes over a day to send out their promo emails at times... It's true though that a huge mail run like Qantas can take some time to arrive in inboxes.

I am quite sure that the emails are sent out in status then FF number order based on previous threads here, discussion with other FF'ers and some other observations I have made over time.

Another yes here. Mine arrived at around the same time as Serfty's (WP), Mrs Tooner's (NB) arrived at 6.46pm.

I'm a little bemused  ... I'm a QP bronze and havn't seen anything from the QF email program... - Am I missing out on anything ??.

Junk email is one thing - but I have elected to receive every red deal from every state in the QF zone .

I want my mass generated email !! :(

What does your FF profile say under E-mail Preferences? Is everything ticked (especially the E-Newsletter section)?

Do you get paper statements? I believe that disqualifies you from receiving this particular update...

Otherwise it's a glitch in the Qantas IT systems denying you your monthly bulletin of babble with occasional good items about how you can get some benefit out of the FF scheme. Kinda like new Idea, but without the beauty tips :D

Nope. I get both paper statements and todays email newsletter.

Hi,

Every-single-thing is ticked in communication. Preferences.. I opted OUT of the paper statements 'bout 2 years ago...

Gee... Nasty qantas mass generated email system !!! Must be run by a windows computer system on dialup connection outsourced to an overseas company ??!!

Hmm. Havn't received mine for a couple of months (since I switched back to paper statements. Thought they were linked).

Have now unticked all of my email preferences and saved, and then re-ticked them all and re-saved. Maybe that'll kick the Qantas IT Systems into realising that I want my monthly fix!

..and seems you need to get the fix quick to get the movie tickets!

Yet to see a movie offered that I really want to see! :) I'm more interested in the latest "enhancements" to the Qantas scheme. May become important in the next few months :D

Mine (as WP) arrived at 17:31. But it was routed the long way from Australia to Australia (worse than many ATW itineraries) which will have taken at least a few minutes transition between all the various store-and-forward components of an enterprise email system based on Lotus Notes.

I am not sure your routeing was so bad, i think if you saw mine you would be supprised, actually i am supprised at how fast it works.
The joys of being an email test user for my company.

They also seem to ignore residents outside Australia. Very hit and miss whether I get a newsletter, and when I do it arrives much later than for Australians :(

I'm down to silver now but still got the email in time to register for Perth. The last tickets went about 10 minutes later (I know this because everyone in the office was trying to register for them).

Having said that, Spiderman 3 tickets went a lot faster than for any other movie.
