We got free ones using a US address in 2003, then changed it to the BNE one a few months ago. We never got any points on it. We don't want them to expire since we would have to pay to get new ones.

they expire if not activated for 3 yrs...
Not necessary u shld travel to remain active. u can also shop at outlets like Fletcher Jones, I think MYER too which award u QF points for purchases

A quick browse of the T&Cs seems to indicate that you don't need to bother having activity on your account...seems to indicate that points will expire after 3 years of inactivity, but not necessarily your membership. But my trawl through T&Cs was brief, and it wouldn't hurt to generate some minor activity on your account (eg. FJs as the previous poster suggested, or through one of the many other partners QFF has)

If you are intending using it in future then just credit a hotel stay or car rental (or similar) to it. For the loss of a few miles on your other FFP it keeps your QF account going for 3 more years.

In the Terms, the account terminates on your death. Whether it goes into some inactive type mode after a few years, is something that would require someone with more internal nowledge

I jointed QF FF in 1996, then moved to the USA, and didn't really have cause to generate any QF points for 8 years. The points I had accrued certainly expired, but the account was still active, and I'm now accruing points again when I return to Oz.

As mentioned by a few others here the points will expire after 3 years of inactivity however the account will remain open. ANY activity is sufficient so a hotel stay with points to QF or a CC transfer will suffice.

Good luck.

Thanks! There are no points to preserve. We did fly to PNG in 2003 and I gave them the flight numbers but we never got any credit. I forgot to follow up on it, it was only BNE-POM-MDG on air Nuigini.

My B-I-L had about 1700 points expire after not flying from 1996 to 2004; when checking in with Qantas for a flight he was asked if he had a FF number; he produced his old white card and off he went with holding a BP with his original FF number beside the word BRONZE now printed on it.

So, yes, points appear to expire, but accounts do not (at least while one is live and kicking)
