Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Is there any way of finding out which routes or times they are on before I book or is it a case of hit and a miss?

Hit and miss.

The only route where an aircraft type is "guaranteed" is SYD-PER where it is specifically marked as Business when you book and the aircraft type shows as A330.

Even in that case, I guess there could also be a last minute change of aircraft in the event of a technical issue (or ash cloud and the scheduled aircraft was stuck in another city!)

Expect this to change however, as VA rolls out the new aircraft and updates the existing ones over the next 6-12 months.

The goal is to have the entire fleet refitted by the end of the year with the new interiors.

Thanks for sharing some great pics. I really like the look of the Sky Interior!

Looks like J seats have airbags on the seat belts? Is that correct? Are they fitted to Y as well?

Look out!

Misha just sent me a txt saying he scored YFC. Please don't burn it down.

I would imagine row 3 has them as well.

According to someone sitting in Row 3 right now. They are regular seatbelts.

New Premium Economy logo - a sign that a "main cabin select" type product will be implemented with business? I like the "econo-me" - puts the emphasis on the individual, engaging them.

New Premium Economy logo - "main cabin select" coming soon?

There is a billboard with premium econo~me written on it close to where I live. Been there for years, so this is nothing new. I wouldn't be concerned about it.

The image has just had an update like everything else has on the web site.

The more and more I think about it, the less likely we are going to get a 'Main Cabin Select' style product. VA recently introduced their new 3 fare type system. They would have introduced MCS at the same time if they want a MCS style product.

Oh awesome thanks for clearing that one up - I still like it though, very swish.

i've gotta say, I've been on one of these on a recent BNE - DRW and I didn't like it one bit - whilst the seats seemed bigger, the lack of IFE was driving me nuts and the new "lighting" gave me a really bad headache.. I'm hoping that this was just a FA that had it set wrong, but it wasn't quite bright enough to see clearly, almost like dusk...

Is there any feedback from Virgin about what their IFE plans are for the new jets? I imagine this would encompass some sort of an upgrade across the entire fleet.

Standard seatbelts in row 3.

In any case, I had the pleasure of flying on VH-VFF back home to Canberra from Melbourne yesterday (seat 3D) and was very impressed - so was my travelling companion in 3F (the lovely lady at the lounge blocked out 3E for us).

The crew also seemed excited and made sure to explicitly welcome us onboard "Virgin Australia's newest Boeing 737-800" :)

And here is the obligatory foot shot!

More room in row 3!

Here's a few other snaps:

Looking back from row 3 (priority boarding was working even without signage, which is how I took this photo with so few people on the aircraft). I found the new economy seating surprisingly comfortable.

Here's the sky interior inflight:

And the tray tables in row 3 are in the armrests, with it configured as a drink table when only partially folded:

A new type of IFE described as "the best in the pacific" will be revealed and implemented across the entire fleet in the near future.

I don't get how you would get a headache from the lighting? It is designed by Boeing to be non intrusive and calming. Put your personal light on if it bothered you...

Something tells me if QF bothered to spend money on their fleet and put in sky interior lighting you would have loved it ;)

Where are you getting this from?

I seem to recall Branson stating that there will be no IFE unless the whole new Business class venture starts paying dividends.

RED in every seat back would well and truly win over alot of pax from other carriers, I wonder if they would go down the path that VX did...ordering from the seatback etc..
