Is there any way to sign up for American Airlines emails advertising airfare deals within the U.S. etc? Unfortunately the AA.com website redirects me to AA's Australian website.

And is there any way to trick the AA website into showing more obscure/via more stops airfares to get from one side of the U.S. to the other for those of us chasing SC's? (LAX to MCO in my current instance).
You just change the location setting back to the US and USD from AU - then you get put back to the US version of the AA website.

I‘ve never been able to find a mailing list for AA but AS does have one. But usually only whY specials.

As per above, click on the language “Flag” to set it to the US website.

Playing with ITA Matrix is one method to find interesting routes.

I wonder if AA's mailing list is done through their AAdvantage rewards program?

Cheers - will have a play!

Have found 120 SC's (I think) for LAX-DFO-MCO for AU$1139 so far.

Oh, I meant to say that AA used to let you select some city pairs for alerts on sale fares. They might still have that but pretty useless for Oz based flyers.

Might be pretty useful for me - but haven't found that feature yet on their website.

General email list with flight deals etc seems to be through the AAdvantage program - just signed up for it - will try to remember to report back what sort of things I get sent!

Yes, I believe it’s in your AA profile. I have some but in several decades, I don’t recall ever receiving an alert…🤷‍♂️

As above, get used to the sound of crickets while you wait…. 😳

Given your specific travel dates, destinations. ITA Matrix ought to be very useful.

Under “advance controls” and “Extension codes” enter “ALLIANCE oneworld”. That’ll limit the search to AA and AS (for domestic US and/or routes between Canada/Mexico etc).

If just looking at US Domestic, you can plug in a bunch of potential Departure airports and Destination airports to see what city pairs are the cheapest. You can even force it to search for specific transit (Connection) points.

Hours of fun to be had! Much more interesting than clicking on Insta reels. 😁

Cheers for those tips - that has opened things up a bit! Pity we couldn't teach it to display SC's earned for each option too :D

So far LAX-SFO-ORD-MCO on Alaska for US$891 earning 200 SC's seems the best bet - not the best earn rate per $ but not an overnight flight either.

Also check out departure from SAN. It’s a relatively quick drive down from LAX if you have the time. It’s another AS hub post the acquisition of VX.

Can anyone help with search parameters for best SC between LAX and Chicago on Oneworld? Haven't used ITA previously, but it looks interesting.

With all current flights booked (not including anything Los Angeles to Chicago), Mrs Goosh will be at 1300SC.

So looking at what will give the best SC to reach Platinum, with some decent travel times, at a fair price! Going by what i'm reading here, probably a bit late to be booking these flights with the timeframe remaining.

Depart Los Angeles to Chicago - July 10
Depart Chicago back to Los Angeles July 17.
OK will check those dates, for info

AA non-stop in what they call First = 100 SC's
AS via Portland = 140 SC's (60+80).
AS via Seattle = 160 SC's (60+100)

Do you need to earn 100 SC's total across the return flight or 100 SC's on the LAX-ORD one way?

According to the QF calc, LAX-ORD in AA “First” (credits as Biz to QF) will earn the magic 100 SCs. Anything via somewhere else ought to earn more!

Travelling in whY might require a few detours.

Alas, this close to travel bargains could be hard to come by.

AUD$1054 for the non-stop on the AA Australian website

100 SC total over the two flights.

By my calculations, will be 1315 SC, so technically only 85 over 2 flights to reach the 1400.

Since we have to make these two flights (LA - Chicago, Chicago to LA) may as well try to maximise the earn potential.

I did offer to fly Mrs in First, and I fly economy :)

Should be able to achieve 85SC's easily for that - but will aim for 100 - just to be safe!

Is a 6am departure too early?

yer just thinking if my calculations are wrong somewhere, better chance to get more.

Plus using the DSC (Mt Isa) tickets for the trip from Aus to USA, so if they go to plan and get the DSC, then will reach 1315. If for some reason it doesn't, then will need to find more flights later (Got till October to reach)

for me no, but the Mrs. yes.

We have stays at Marriott (Titanium) so 4pm checkout posssible, but with timezone changes, I'm thinking mid morning departure from Los Angeles.

For the return, its just a repositioning flight so have warned it may be late arriving back to Los Angeles like around midnight.

OK Outbound LAX-PHX-CLT-ORD gets you 80 SC's - 9.44 departure, 21:20 arrival for US$335 in economy (V) - then just about any flight from ORD-LAX will get you the remaining 20 SC's
