How do you book this? Is it on the Qantas website or through an OTA? One way or multi city? I am playing around on the Qantas website and can't get those flights as an option.

This was on the QF website. I did this booking around Nov last year for travel in December.

It was during the 50% bonus SC promo - targeted though.

So I was able to get this fare with two separate bookings - booking 1 : SYD-OOL in Y ; booking 2 : OOL-AKL via MEL in J. The J fare was around A$600ish, the Y fare was A$100ish ...

Return AKL-SYD was classic reward Y for 18,000 points

EDIT : Search on QF website for OOL-AKL via MEL return for A$1188, fetching 280 SC

... Another good value option is the Hilton Garden Inn - especially when HH are running a bonus points offer or if you need a few stays to attain/retain status. $50-70/night. It's probably about 3.5* but is quite new, has a decent pool and bar, and has a free airport shuttle. It's very good value if on a budget ...
... and usually only 5,000 Hilton points per night (including breakfast for Diamond/Gold HHonors members).

And their coffee is far better than your airline coffee.

I have 28 days left to accrue 215 SC's to maintain Platinum. I am in Adelaide ADL and am looking for the quickest way to get them. Thanks

You may refer to this post I wrote couple of weeks ago. There were sale fares to NZ and OOL-MLE-AKL return gave 280SC, you may do it one way and add ADL into the mix

In early March looking at a couple of days in Bali, then onto Bangkok:-
Qantas > Bali, $1000 with 90 sc's (economy)
Bali > Bangkok $1200 with 240sc's (business flex).

I have been doing searches for the last 3 hours on THE site, doing variables to Cairns, Darwin even Manila, so much so I am getting dizzy, but still no 50 percent plus offer.
Doing this sure beats mowing the lawn.

But then going to Darwin, or Cairns from Melbourne has nearly the cost and status credits without all the international travel. Oh well, I might as well go and mow the lawn, nothing to see here..Cheers.

Easiest would be OOL-AKL return via MEL in QF J, gives you 280 SC for roughly A$1300

If you've got points you could do SYD/MEL-OOL-SYD/MEL in JQ classic reward

Oops admin, mea culpa on the last thread, chatting!

I need to go from MEL to Tunisia in early April, and return a couple of weeks later.

I want to maximize my QF SC earning. Ideally I can earn 300-400 SC on this trip. But I can't afford to buy a J ticket MEL-TUN (pricing at $9k and also there is no QF codeshare on DXB-TUN).

I'm willing to book separate tickets, multiple connections via Asia, DXB, SIN, etc. I can do stopovers. I am very flexible.

Unfortunately I'm not coming up with much. Advice is appreciated.

Why not look in to southern Europe (Madrid, Rome) then a separate ticket in to TUN.

Istanbul might also work.

With AT (Royal Air Maroc) joining OneWorld you may be able to connect from many airports in Europe or middle east if you don't mind separate tickets.

How much are you willing to spend and are you after J all the way?

how did you manage to book DPS to BKK for A$1200 ?

It's most likely an MH booking. Doesn't matter if it's Business Promo, Standard or Flex - you'll get J credits for DPS-KUL (60SC) and KUL-BKK (60SC), doubled for the return.
