Sorry didn't post my find earlier...
Seemed like the now expired Qatar sale offered the best SC earn.
BKK-DOH-CAI return in J ~ $1800AUD (400sc)
CAI-DOH-JFK return in J ~ $2200AUD (520sc)

Or the recent very quickly pulled error fare.
DPS-DOH-BOS return in J ~$850AUD (520sc)

Too bad I have all my travels locked in for this year...

Waiting for the next Qatar sale

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Spotted on FlyerTalk premium fare thread.

Yeah there were lots of good QR fare posted there.

I booked and nested these - just need to get to CMB now:

CMB - DOH - CAI - DOH - CMB - AU$875 - 460SC
CAI - DOH - JNB - DOH - CAI - AU$950 - 540SC

sorry, I am new here but I check on QF calculator
CMB-DOH-CAI-DOH-CMB on F is 540, J is 360
CAI-DOH-JNB-DOH-CAI on F is 630, J is 420

Also I wanna ask how should we fly to CMB then? to MAX the SC.
it seems from Australia it is not very practicable?

Flights between CAI and DOH earn at F rates which is 150SC's per sector.

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

QF Au to SIN then UL from SIN to CMB.
QF Au to SIN will earn full relevant QF SC rates.
EK with a QF flight number to DXB can work too.

You could fly to Bangkok on Jetstar (business max bundle - although that can be expensive), then own way to CMB (perhaps on Sri Lankan). Coming back from Colombo you can pick up a UL/QF fare via Singapore for about AUD1000 (one way).

BKK-xKUL-CMB in J on MH for $600 works out to 120SCs so $5/SC, not too bad.

thank you for your advise, dont know if i am doing it correct
04MAR17 SYD-MEL-SIN-BKK 40+120+60 = 220SC,
11MAR17 BKK-SIN-MEL-SYD 40+120+60 = 220SC.
on JQ Biz MAX, says 3583 in inclusive, turns out $8.14/SC
SYD-MEL and SIN-BKK are on economy cabin, is JQ website correct about SC?

You would only fly to bangkok on Jetstar. You'd pick up Sri Lankan/Qantas back, much cheaper and proper business class. Jetstar max bundles are very expensive. I'd probably forego the bundle and just fly business class without the SCs (you can get to Bangkok or coughet that way for as little as $549 in 'business'). Or even better if you are willing to forego the SCs, just buy a business ticket on points for about $700 one way (lifeemiles)

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

I'm looking for creative routing ex SYD to MNL with HKG and HND/NRT included. I'm thinking of QF SYD-MNL-SYD with CX MNL-HND/NRT via HKG stopover during Feb/Mar.

Any other ideas?

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Speak to madrooster about the SYD-SIN-NRT-BKK fare. I know you can do SIN-KUL-MNL in that fare as well. It has a lot of fun routings with good $/SC as well.

Try something like...

SYD BA SIN MH KUL MH MNL PR BKK JL TYO JL SIN BA SYD (one ticket - you can stop in KUL, MNL, BKK, TYO and SIN)

Then buy a second ticket for BKK-HKG-BKK.

Or...

SYD CX HKG CX/KA TPE CX TYO CX TPE CX/KA HKG CX SYD (one ticket)

Then buy a second ticket for TPE-MNL-TPE or TPE-HKG-MNL-HKG-TPE.

Or...

SYD QF MNL JL TYO CX/JL HKG QF SYD (one ticket)

Thanks I like this one. I've done TPE-HKG-MNL-HKG-TPE before on a CX sale J fare - nice little earner. Haven't seen that sale for a while.

This fare sounds really appealing for some upcoming travel I have planned - is it only bookable by T/As or also available online?

What's an average price for these itineraries on a sale?

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

I'm sitting on 915 SC with 50 SC worth of travel booked Before my SC year ending 31 Mar =965 SC for the year.

I am considering if it's worth chasing 35 SC in March to trigger the loyalty bonus. I would then wait until my new status year begins and select the 50 SC bonus option.

The way I see it, a 35 SC run could effectively earn 85 SC and kick start my new year.

But here's the catch, how do I grab 35 SC ex. DRW for $350 or less?

It's a real struggle for status runs out of DRW! Best value on QF that I can see is about $470 to SYD return which would earn 40SCs. You could potentially use the points you'd earn from those flights to offset the cost of the tickets via Points + Pay though.

Other potential options:
- JQ/3K with a plus bundle to DPS/SIN (I think DPS is cheaper) but I'm not sure it'd work out much cheaper than QF once you factor in the plus bundle.
- Airnorth (QF codeshare) to DIL - this actually earns 50SC return for 1.5 hour flights. It was about $500 return for dates in April when I searched recently but it's a bit different!. East Timor might not be the best place for a same day return though since it's a US$30 visa on arrival and you need to show genuine tourist/business intent to get in.

DRW-KUL-MNL return for $500 for 80 sc.

Not sure that works unfortunately - if it's for the 50SC loyalty bonus it'd need to be on a QF or JQ code.
