Would love to know/trade anyone that knows anything on these airlines:

CX/MH/AY

Would be amazing. Can trade a few good ones if anyone knows any of these.

Thanks

decided to spend the day trying for some 3x......was looking for one on the 'maple leaf' and tried many tropical island destinations near and far..........without any luck.....final check before going to bed and stumbled on one that was Aat least interesting.....on final calculation it saved a whole $25 with the 3x unflyable - yep I think I am going to stick to running up my credit cards....this doesn't waste my whole day

As I am a complete newbie, I have just booked my first 3x fare and wanted to at least tell other newbies the breadcrumbs I followed to get me thinking. I'm sure this isn't giving away too much, but I was just frustrated that I couldn't find a starting point.

Lesson 1: If you are looking for a fast solution for a one off airfare using this method, then don't waste your time. This process can take a LONG time at first, but I can see it paying dividends in the long term.
Lesson 2: Don't bother asking for help in the forums, because it is like asking someone where they found gold! Pretty soon there will be no gold left for the person that spent all the time finding it in the first place because other freeloaders have stolen it all!
Lesson 3: The reason these fares even exist is because it is HARD to find them and most people just give up! I wanted to give up 100 times, but have persisted for several WEEKS to make my first breakthrough (maybe I'm just a bit slow)
Lesson 4: Once I found ONE fare that I could apply a 3x, it has become a game to me (better than Candy Crush) and I spend hours just "browsing" out of curiosity to see what I can achieve. Practice makes perfect
Lesson 5: Rome wasn't built in a day. You need to have serious commitment to finding a fare in order to have the patience to search

Ok, so here are my breadcrumbs:

1- Read the hackmytrip posts (mentioned on the first page of this discussion) and pay particular attention to CLUES left in the posts
2- Browse the flyertalk thread (also mentioned on the first page of this discussion)
Note: Spend at least a few DAYS reading these posts and familiarising yourself with terminology and strategies
3- Browse this forum as well (of course)
4- Never give up!

Yep... I'm sure there is more to it, but if I can find a 3x fare (not amazing, but saved half the YQ on a C6-C1-C1 flight - find out what this means in the article above), then you can too.

I did not need ANY other resources besides the above to get me STARTED (but obviously used others mentioned in the above posts of course). Biggest tip: Google is your friend!

Next step for me: Figure out how to remove the YQ on these sectors all together!

I would appreciate someone sending me a PM with a basic example so i can then go away and work through the process and formula. It seems a starting point could be the hardest aspect of this eg. Which airlines does this work for and which ones not, which ports, etc. I definitely agree in not sharing specific examples publicly as we have seen where this goes (SC runs and QF spring to mind)

I was wondering if using Brazilian sites for booking amounts to much the same a fuel dumping, but not sure how well the br sites always work and how many airlines might geo block them???

Airlines with reasonably smart revenue management departments know to zero out the lower fare buckets based on PoS to get around the inability to charge YQ when BR is the PoS.

Hello guys,
Is this thread totally over? I found it searching FD and I was able to make some progress decreasing FAT by 1/3, but I bet that someone could do it better.

hi there - which route were you speaking about? I may be able to help.

I myself have just gotten back into researching FDs and have made some progress for C1 outbound routes, but haven't really found anything beneficial outbound from home (melbourne). For the moment, am looking for some good C1-C3s as it's the route I most frequently take. Currently looking for a RT to sushi but all the BF are quite high. Would appreciate any assistance for this route, especially in regards to which airlines i should be looking at!
Also, happy to offer my assistance to any newbies out there who want to learn about FD.

As previously mentioned, it's best to read some beginner material available at:
'Hack My Trip' blog (i can't link yet)

and I'd also suggest reading the Milepoint forum as it's first 60 pages are like a condensed 1000 pages on flyertalk.

Cheers

Pardon me, I meant C6-C3!
I've found potential fares with high fat with VN and SQ. However, from my understanding SQ isn't undumpable...(?)

I would just post up what you are looking for but do the details via pm

Looking just for a good C1-C2, quite flexible with dates and cities, though Big Apple to Oktoberfest City/Amour Tower or Vodka (I know these are not the right code names )), however that's what's coming to my mind when thinking about them) would be just perfect, since inter-EU flights may be purchased for quite cheap.

Would appreciate any hint and on PM would share what I'd found so far.

Everyone have a Nice Weekend!

SQ is dumpable.. however I dont know if it's dumpable on your route.. C2-C6 is possible.

I can partially 3x dump out of Oz to US and completely 1x dump. Happy to trade if anyone has anything worthwhile departing from home.

That depends where "home" is...
