HI all

I have been searching for a discount F class airfare to Europe for Dec 07 – Jan 08 however the only one at this point is BA $8500. The rest are all around $12K+ (SQ CX etc) I would take the BA offer however you cannot travel via HKG and the reviews on BA F class are not the best. Any assistance would be appreciated. Normally this time of year SQ and others release special F class fares for the DEC - JAN season (limited business traffic). The next best is with TG/LH for around $8500 however TG NO WAY!
I would prefer either Oneworld or Star carriers.

What is the issue with BA not flying via HKG. If HKG is a requirement then you are limited to two carriers, QF and CX and they are likely to be the two most expensive options since QF is the home carrier of the POO and CX F is always top dollar.

By limiting yourself to OneWorld and Star Alliance, and eliminating TG, you really are going to struggle to find anything under $10K in F. Take the BA option - you may even be able to get that fare on the BA codeshare of the QF operated flight.

If you really want the cheapest F option, then you will need to look outside the two major alliances, and consider the likes of MH or EK. Or go for an AONE4 ATW option (still going to cost around $12K though).

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Using the ITA Trip finder software a straight SYD-LHR-SYD the cheapest I could find was $9198 on BA. I would take your $8500 option - I don't think you are going to get a better F product at the price you want to pay.

Have you considered Etihad, they've got a pretty good product on offer.

Their fares are $7849 pls tax (senion 60+) or $8721 pls tax standard.

The BA fare of $8407 pls tax is only valid on BA long haul (no qf metal allowed)

Not sure what you have against TG, ive flown several times and dont mind them....they have a fare of $7749 pls tax.

I logged into concorde fare search and thats about all you're going to find for under 10k

I tried TG's new first product earlier in the year and it is excellent, the equipment is on par with the best and obviously TG's service exceeds that of any "western" carrier, so I can't understand the concern you have. Perhaps it dates back to the old first product? Which was fine in itself, just didn't match the new generation equipment.

that BA price is a pretty sweet deal for F, i would def take that. normally you could be paying more than that for J. sure the product is a little tired and the service can be hit and miss, but for that price i think its more than acceptable.

I recently paid $9000 for J on QF for tgtwwm to go to the UK so I concur the F price is good.

There's also the LH F fare at $8479 which is awesome value for what you're getting. It's offered in conjunction with TG and UA, and you have the option of turning it into a mini RTW.

Thank you all for your advice.

I agree the LH/TG/UA is still the best value however I am looing for a SQ offer (as they have for the past 4 years around this time). I would grab the BA Christ Cracker (as they call it) however reviews about BA F class are not good! The inflight entmnt is of old standards (the new J class is better). So if some one can assist on any offers with SQ ot even CX. The BA offer is very restrictive however the best still is LH/TG (no time to go via USA).

Thank you all for your thoughts. It appears I will have to take BA F Class offer for $8500. SQ is $13K the around the world SQ you must travel via JFK (no time). Not sure about BA F class reviews are mixed. Will let you know!
