Disappointed with Singapore Airlines

Yet people still chase points.

I was never going to be a premium Flyer (happy down the back) but I've given up chasing points. Not worth the trouble and the stress.

There is a point to which airlines can cut reward seat availability and have no impact on the business model...

It's a balancing point which they try to manage as all businesses do-maximizing profit whilst minimizing customer dissatisfaction.

I like many acquire credit cards and have loyalty with specific airlines because Singapore historically hasn't been too bad in offering reward seat availability.

If it gets to the point where as you have mentioned it's all too hard, I like many will happily move on to competing airlines, or stop chasing points all together impacting the credit card model, impacting their profits..

I thought my suggestion was quite clear and logical-keep the process as is, people still have to buy a ticket or take a wait list. But then 1 day out if they haven't sold the fares then they should look at clearing waitlists...How many people do you think are going to hedge their whole trip on a waitlist clearing one day out??

You do realise that reward seats are a major money spinner for airlines, they aren't giving them away for free...
The frequent flyer program is a major money spinner for most airlines… the seats are just a part of that… something the airline can offer as an aspirational award.

Airlines have had to diversify into all sorts of other fields in order to be able to have ‘stuff’ for people to redeem.

Although that being said, there’s usually plenty of economy award space. Rather than ‘money spinning’, it covers the cost of the fuel for the flight. The customer is happy, and gives the incentive for the customer to keep earning.
