Been a Senator at Lufthansa for many years. But decided to switch to Qantas for the last few years for 2 reasons

1. Impossible to get a retro active credit done. Sent boarding passes, called the "paid" german call centre, emailed the boarding passes, faxed them....I always get a "we received" email and even a letter that said they apologise for the delay and that the 6 month time limit will be waived. But never received any credits. Calling the local help desk just ends up with "we can't do anything..."

2. Not attractive at all to live in Australia to hold a Miles and More status. Never able to use points for upgrade on Singapore airlines and request stays match at Singapore air...

So finally went to One World and despite the limitation of not being able to exchange Qantas points for upgrades to any other airline. Will happily stay here. Bye bye Star Alliance...I spent more than 70K on flights last year and only spent 10K off those with Star alliance.

Welcome to AFF.

Just brainstorming here, if you were spending 70K on flights, I assume the majority of this was in premium cabins? so why not credit to another *A program. You seem to like SQ so why not credit to SQ? SQ and QF have similarly equal high taxes on award tickets so really no differences there but at least with SQ you have a variety of European cities they fly into and you can fly Suites. If you need to get to USA, there's a handful of regular SQ flyers here that like to fly via SIN just to drink more Krug :)

If you credit towards a US based frequent flyer program, most charge very little taxes!!

Yes all Premium cabins. Didn't have the presence of mind to have credited them to SQ. ....gave Lufthansa a chance way too many times...

Vinomofo is the best wine deals site on the planet. Good wines, real people and epic deals, without all the bowties and bs.

Interesting. I hold no status with LH but recently flew their F product on the 747-8i and was so impressed with them, and then the connection in FRA on to TXL... I've actually been looking into whether it'd be worth me going for Senator rather than Krisflyer Gold, even if just having access to LH F rewards seats in advance. I used Krisflyer to book the previous flight however they only open up 15 days in advance, and I'm much too organised for that :)

Anyway, about to book a return Europe trip so seriously considering doing that with LH rather than QF or EY.

I used LH to Frankfurt then Tegel and was also very impressed however I was the only one in First, and Caviar was fantastic.

Have written to Get status match many times and the response is very unsympathetic. Needless to say they won't be getting my regular business.

This is because I flew Singapore airlines and was blown away with their service.

Did anybody have luck with LH status Match?

LH are known for never matching status.
If you're paying for First Class though Senator won't be too hard to achieve, basically 1x Asia-Germany return and 1x Australia-Germany return (using SQ), although booking that last one is difficult as there is rarely cheaper (A-Class) availability for a SQ-LH ticket. Chances better out of Melbourne than Sydney.
I'm going to go for Senator this year and see how that goes..! Unfortunately, I'd get it in December with my next LH F trip but I credited to SQ earlier in the year..!

That's about right because I have written to them several times regarding a status match and always the same response Nein!!
