Hi all

Can anybody please explain why the points earn for NTL-BNE is 1094 if Gold but 1531 on BNE-NTL?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

It's based on cost of the flight, not the distance. :)
You get that on separate bookings.

Here's the two flights from a single booking I had - one way was in Flexi: (note the differing SC earn)

18 Nov 1616 Nov 16 Perth -Melbourne VA0694401,8231,8233,646
15 Nov 1610 Nov 16 Melbourne-Perth VA0697201,8231,8233,646
I can assure you the outbound was lees than a third the cost of the return.

They both cost the same. They were both Elevate fares and had the same SC

Were they booked as one-ways? or part of a return fare?

e.g.

Book a one way fare MEL-SYD for $110 and earn 550 base points+bonus.
Book a one way fare SYD-MEL for $130 and earn 650 base points+bonus.

Book these same flight as a return fare for $240 and earn 600 base points+bonus each way (total 1200+).

I can't remember of it was purchased separately or not.

But from what i can see its almost a 30% difference.

Is that correct?

It's actually 40% :)

You get 5 points per dollar spent on domestic fares. So I guess the question is did you pay 40% more for that ticket?

Looks to me like the Newcastle-Brisbane fares each cost $125 (125 x 5 = 625 base points) while the Brisbane-Newcastle fare was $175 (175 x 5 = 875 base points). Either that or a glitch!

These, what would be correct.

I was not aware points were based on cost. I thought they were based on distance.

Domestic booking earn is based on cost.

Earn with flights on International bookings is based on distance.

For interest, domestic flights as part of international itineraries are also based on distance.
