Design your own free luggage tags

My dads arrived at his house today (I ordered them for him). However the 2 sets I ordered for me and SWMBO to the same PO Box have not arrived as yet.

Mine have arrived (2 sets). I'll give them a work-out next week - on QF and AA.

Just wondering about their advice not to put your address on the tags... I've always written mine on my tags - is it standard practice not to? Is there really a concern that somebody who steals your bags will also come around to your house for more?

I use my PO Box as the address.

I'm running Windows Vista and have gone to tools/delete browsing history/delete all
which includes temporary internet files, cookies, history, form data & passwords BUT
I keep getting the prompt "sorry there's been an error you've already ordered your luggage tags".

What else do I need to do so my pc doesn't think I've visited the site already & ordered?

I didn't even have to do that. I just closed the browser then re-opened. It's running on default settings as I never really use IE, so not sure why you're not having any luck..

Running on Firefox here. I receivedthe 1st order & then went in & ordered for SWMBO. Then straight back in & ordered 2nd lot for myself with no hassles- site was showing how many were left available.

Oops I think I was a tad hasty in deleting cookies etc as all you need to do is open a new browser. Thanks for that Flashware.

The issue is that if someone sees your address on a baggage tag, they have a fair assumption that the person living at the address is not home, potentially making your home more vulnerable to break-in while you are away.

I use my work office address on things like luggage tags. Use an address or contact information that will allow a lost bag to find its way home, but its generally recommended not to use your real home address.

That makes sense. But between good neighbours (in a secure apartment block), an alarm system, deadlocks, barred windows - if a thief is absolutely adamant on getting in then good on 'em :-)

(I'm also now thinking about an organised crime ring recruiting baggage handlers trafficking in travelers' addresses... hehehe)

not everyone lives in such an environment.

You will not be the first to have thought about it. Be sure that the organised crime rings have thought about it long ago . And not just airport baggage handlers. Hotels staff or anyone else who has the ability to read a luggage tag and come to a conclusion about the likelihood of an empty household.

I have decided to finally jump on the bandwagon and ordered 4. Safari wouldn’t accept my changed to the photo orientation, Firefox did, but they both completed the order. Used the same email, different name.

Says there are over 100k left on the website.

For me it's mostly about limiting the amount of information you make available about yourself (I'm professionally paranoid). My bag tags have my name and frequent flyer numbers on them; in theory that would be enough for the airline to identify me and get in touch. No one else needs my contact details.

mine arrived in the mail today...... no fuss.......

with respect to the address concern on the exposed luggage tag.....

noted my name, State and Country
then I noted my mobile number noting international code..... "usually" the mobile is with you...
