Denali Demo and Rebuild

I'm surprised by how much water condensation is collected by our new Bosch heat pump filter

I got 40 boxes from storage today and the mover was so impressed by my choice of boxes, labelling and stacking that he took pics to send to his wife. Apparently people are quite creative with the boxes they use, I made sure every single box was the same size, double ply and had handles cut out for easy handling 🤣

Mr Denali decided today was when he would focus on bringing Alexa into our lives and asking it questions all day. According to Alexa it will take 6mths to do all the boxes 🤣

Also today cleaner did a end of lease type clean for mum in laws house as we removed everything from there so brother in law has it to himself again.

Pic of the Plush couch being put together, it has a battery pack to operate the recliners so no power cords. Temporary table until I find what I want being used as box staging station 😊

I guess a fully charged battery would last a while (unless kids start 'riding the couch'). How do the batteries get recharged?

You plug the power pack into power to recharge and after push power pack back under sofa to hide

Found the slow cooker and kitchen stuff so our first home cooked meal was mexican but it was good. Missed having my own kitchen to cook in. Today movers are bringing the last of the boxes

Also had lkea in today... but sadly got Mr grumpy bum which is why I prefer to source my own airtasker. But I now have a WFH space to set up. Originally priced $1500+ for the benchtop only from builders supplier, Ikea will do the job for a while at $250 inc side cabinet and install

Blinds, shutters ect installed yesterday and installer just took a tumble down the stairs and put a small divot in a wall and marked it up with dirt/black stuff.

Installer is OK, pride hurt and a very nasty scare as he was carrying a ladder at the time.

So.... sign..... then I found out he mixed up installation on upstairs blockouts so now have to paint touch up that as well. It would be nice to have something nice for more than a week. We didnt go cheap, $20K for this job, so not like we used the lowest quote.

But, firstly, he's OK and Veri Shades installed and so glad I went with full length

So there are no links on the bottom of the verishade?

So there are no links on the bottom of the verishade?
Nothing on the bottom so you can walk through them. They look like normal sheer curtain until you get right next to them

These are not blockout, you can buy them in block out fabric but we still wanted light so the neighbours can't see in but you can twist the wand if you want more or less

In NSW links are not allowed in tenanted properties. Choking risk for children. Not sure about private ownership.
My nsw unit (as do almost everyone in the development) have links on the vertical blinds on bedroom windows and balcony doors, came with.

Only people who have renovated recently may have shutters. We are 30% owner occupied 70% renters, no memo re it not being allowed.

And the local Wynstan blind shop I walk past almost daily has same ones links and all on sale in the window.

I don't agree with nanny state, no kids allowed in my home so why do I care about choking hazards. I have friends whose kids grew up in houses with linked blinds and none ever ate them, who come up with this nonsense.

I do like your blinds Denali, I want replace mine, but don't like the bulk the shutters add on sliding doors (fine for windows that have a. Deep ledge). You have me thinking.

I can't see how the bottom links are a risk but rather the cord that might hang down that switches the panels. I guess it only takes one awful accident for authorities to react. But agree, too many restrictions these days.

This has nothing to do with the corporate body which can only concern itself with what lies beneath the paint layer. Unless the building or installed windows are less than about 10 years old the BC has probably arranged to have window locks installed on your windows such that they can be locked in a position with an opening of no more than 125mm. They have no control over your window coverings.

I've had locks on my windows and balcony doors so can lock in open position for airflow for over 20 years, installed the day moved in. Nothing to do with kids and everything to do with security. Dont want some one breaking in while you are out or sleeping.

When the law came in re locks on windows because some irresponsible parents were putting bunk beds up against windows, they came to install these cough locks I told the installer to bugger off cause what I already had was far far superior.

Personally i think the onus should be on parents to kid/baby proof their homes and not on body corporate or owners/landlords.

There are two national mandatory standards that apply to blind and curtain cord safety.

Trade Practices (Consumer Product Safety Standard - Corded Internal Window Coverings) Regulations 2010
Competition and Consumer (Corded Internal Window Coverings) Safety Standard 2014

I
I had those exact items. They are poor quality. The desk is lightweight and made of cardboard honeycomb and easily dented/scratched
It'll do the job until other things are taken care off, like the wardrobes, repainting a couple of walls and landscaping

I forgot that we also had security screens done and havent looked at them yet (still doing boxes and mostly go through the garage door) but Amazon just sent me a pic of the front 🤣. We also had crimsafe screens added to the living and bedroom stacker doors

So you haven't been out the front door recently?

Nope, I dont have my keys yet so I usually go through the garage door as my car is already being parked in the garage. Mr Denali has tried to give me keys but Ive got many other things to do so will get around to is eventually

Today Mr Denali's younger brother popped over while I was making fried barra fish pieces (extra fillets from grilled fish dinner) so we had our first (lunch) guests. Im enjoying having my own kitchen again as I did very basic cooking over the last year.

This afternoon is a City Cave massage and float - much needed after a week of unpacking
