Hubby decided to use old house toilet for the last time this morning, at 6.36am.

Demo guys showed up at 6.38am 🤣

I quickly phone him, to tell him to get out of the house. Now!

Demo guys were surprised when some old guy in boxer shorts and a Jimi Hendrix Tshirt and psycadellic crocs walked out the front door, saying Good morning!

coughters full.

We're told asbestos is dangerous, deadly. So let me watch men in hazmat suits hit it repeatedly with a hammer and crowbar to get it out of the eaves.

Must say, they are working hard. Garage almost done and half way through the house. Now water spraying hammer man and eaves.

One man has found a wheelbarrow and using that to transport smaller pieces. How did the internet freebie people miss the wheelbarrow?

I wonder, once wrapped, how will it be moved as its a big, organised lot at the rear.

Random people helping themselves to stuff in the old house update. I thought we were done but apparently not.

We left in the house a fantastic automatic bin that I forgot to give nephew or list on FB, pedestal fan and 4 slicer toaster that we really like, will buy again, but no room in MIL house so left inside.

Asbestos people took them all 🤣

Edit. Oh, and half filled bottles of Roundup I had all over the place, because I forget where I leave them.

Demo update. A couple of hours after the asbestos crew left, someone showed up to inspect the site for removal and OK next step.

Then just now, 3 other young people showed up, splendent in the most glorious mullets Ive seen in years and a Holden. I think these are the metal recovery people but they seemed unhappy with our site. Not enough metal for their liking? What about the huge 1950s old hot water system thats in the roof, similar to the below?

Sadly, we will have to watch tomorrows shenanigans via our cameras as we have to go sign contracts (finally) tomorrow.

Today we drove to the builders office to sign our contract. Underwhelmed by the moment, most expensive thing we've ever bought, inc two prev houses, but I think it's because we're tired from the last week to get to this point. We also signed off final selections for everything from island bench to door stops.

Each meeting the builder provides bottles of water and Tim Tams. Told the owner that for the price we're paying, I'm taking ALL the Tim Tams and scooped them up into my bag.

The Demo mullet trio for metal removal was supposed to show up at 10am today but no one so far.

Because prev posts are buried in the chat thread, we've gone with Colourbond Blue Gum for our roof. It's a new colour and we don't want a dark house and it scored favourably for Basix.

Next time I do something in the building line, I’m going to pay you megabucks to be my agent! We can split the Tim Tams, though.
Last week I spent an inordinately large amount of time deciding an induction cooktop for the existing kitchen. Could have done with @Denali 's help. Today I decided it is not worth the risk with a pacemaker so back to the store to pick out a gas cooktop.

Im feeling really bad for brother in law who lives next door and works night shift because the noise is pretty full on for the burbs. Dont care about one neighbour to the other side but the one at the rear I hope is OK with it.

I remind myself that most people dont get to be this close during this process to see and hear as much as we are, being next door to it.

Seeing the machine pick up things that are cemented into the ground like its a toothpick is scary.

WIll add pics in a few mins
