Our Jetstar (Denpasar- Melb) flight is delayed by around 5 hours, now departing at 4.30am. Annoying but I certainly understand that these things happen. We are traveling up the front of the plane, which I am hoping makes things a tad easier. I have a couple of questions-

Will the lounge Jetstar uses at Denpasar open at the normal time and remain open until the plane leaves? Having a rest in the lounge would make the delay easier to bear.

Any suggestions (other than a sleep) on how to pass the time in the airport?

Also, when do you think Jetstar contact me to inform me the plane is delayed? (I found out by my Tripit app).

Cheers and thanks,

Max

I would think it unlikely that a contract lounge would stay open just for JQ. If there are other departures you may be lucky.

I would try to contact JQ if you can to ask about the flight, to make sure it really is delayed. Not that I am doubting TripIt, but just to make sure they don't refuse to check you in as you weren't at the airport at a certain time.

Thanks, Jessica. Just checked Jetstar website and confirmed 5 hour delay. Ill probably drop Jetstar a tweet to touch base.

As to what to do for 5 hours in an airport, I don't know DPS. Can you watch a movie somewhere?

Find a power point somewhere within view of the Jet* check in desk and hopefully free wi fi and give us a running commentary of how the delay is handled. Keep a camera at the ready in case a riot breaks out so you can sell the footage to a news organisation and make some money.

Hopefully the best happens and you leave a bit late with no further drama.

If only this were Europe you'd likely have a lot of compensation to be thinking about!

Having flown out of DPS last week there are minimal power points once you get into the actual airport. Found 1 in the far right corner (think it was checkins marked D which are/were used by Virgin). The back right hand corner also has a bit of empty carpeted space so could sit / lay there as I don't recall seeing a single seat.

Is there an ontime running statistic for the DPS Dreamliner services?

I'm a bit OT here but I didn't think QF/JQ had a lounge in DPS. The QF website doesn't list it. I'm going to DPS in February and would love to be wrong. can anyone confirm please?

There isn't one you can access with QC card however if you have Jetstar Max fare they send to the same one as a City Bank Signature card linked to the Priority pass card gets you into for free.
I need a breathe after that far too long sentence.
The bonus is i think the new one has recently opened but could be wrong.

Unless it has very recently opened, a month ago the only priority pass lounge was a sorry excuse for a lounge next to gate 4 (IIRC), with Paid Wifi and some small bites and drinks.

Still the near gate four 'lounge' .......wifi now free but it is next to useless............ furnishing look like they have done ten very hard years or so .........

Probably moved it all from the old airport. I find the gate situation on arrival hilarious- airbridge to a bus, when you can see the inside of the terminal. But may only go about 20 feet to the door if you stop at the closest gate, but because it's Indonesia the place doesn't seem to be ready to take arrivals via airbridge?

In any case that answers my question. No QP. Which is what I thought and expected.

On the short sector from DRW I couldn't justify the cost of JQ business class. We picked up a sale fare $250 return including the bundle. $5/SC. Not status run value, but since I'm having a holiday anyway, I'll take it!

With the money we save on the business class we get an extra day by the pool. SWMBO thinks that's worth sitting down the back for!

As far as I can tell, a star class max bundle will get you access to the JAS lounge near gate 4.
At least that's what it says on the Jet* web site. ,

Just passed by DPS last night. The "lounge" (and I'm using the word here very loosely) is open 24 hours. It also appears that they have opened up a temporary space near gate 5 as well, which is less crowded. The premier lounge is expected to open some time next month. It's situated upstairs near the food court inside the duty free shops (which you are forced to walk through). Can't see very much from the ground floor, but it looks to be a large expanse of space, and somewhat comfortable.

They were saying that a year ago! :)

Current estimates are:

- End of February, 2015
- End of March, 2015
- End of another month.

It actually looks like it's ready for operation, with all the seats and tables in place.

The makeshift "lounges" near gates 4 and 5 are really nothing more than sectioned off seating areas with food and drink. What is sorely missed are shower facilities particularly given Bali's climate - hopefully the refurbished lounge will have these.
