Delay in Citi Select Rewards Point Posting

Better we all read the mailings from Westpac as they arrive in the mail to check for any "enhancements".
Commercially Westpac have raised dealing margins in their quest to unduly enrich their top folks to a level where customer loyalty is vanishing. Credit cards are there for Westpac to earn 20% plus fees on their money.
I saw where I could not spell warehouse after some champagne so I am glad I did not drive home.
Co branded cards need both partipants to agree so the Kris Flyer Westpac Platinum Amex may miss the cut. That seems to have been the good news on the Amex Ultimate Qantas points earning card. Both of these cards are part of my Plan B and then all the rest are Visa/MasterCards that earn a true point per dollar.

There is also the virgin high flyer card at 1.25ppd

This card is a re-branded citibank card so i am thinking no more pojnts on ATO payments o this card. Has anyone used this card for ATO payments and received the points this month??

...wharehouse...

Luckily, you didn't replace the "a" with an "o" or Mrs cove may not only be banning you from champagne but asking some additional Qs...

No matter how annoyed and frustrated we get with all these changes, I think we should all remember cove's attitude which he shared with me by PM (hope he doesn't mind me sharing!):
It is just a game but it is addictive fun.

yep, totally correct attitude....it IS indeed a great big game. Many players: The AFF and like-minded educated punters, the rest of the punters, the various airlines, the banks and credit card companies, the merchants, even the ATO.

And what a joy it all is too.

As long as I can remember, the rules have changed under me on many occasions. One just has to move with the rules. What was best a year ago, is not always the best now. New, better, products come. The good old products get 'enhanced'.

One just needs to be prepared to move along.....

sorry if been discussed elsewhere but is anyone aware of what Diners will do/is doing? I reckon Citi run them in OZ and there is a 1.25ppd mastercard attached that transfers to a wide and varied choice of airlines and hotels including Velocity at 1:1?
If no-one knows I might do a tester when I get my next tax bill

I checked my last statement and I did not get Citi rewards points for ATO transactions on 4 and 5 March. So it seems 1 March was the date they decided to strictly enforce the points earn rules.

I rang the Citi rewards people and they confirmed that those transactions were classified "non-retail" and thus not eligible for points. I pointed out that this was a change on Citi's previous treatment of ATO transactions and they refused to accept that there had been any change - in fact they went so far as to say that if I had been allowed points on these transactions before then the computer must have "slipped" on those occasions and it was an act of good grace by Citi to me that they hadn't tried to reverse those points.

So...whats a good Visa alternative earning at least 1:1 on ATO spend with a high points cap?

TBH, I'm NOT sure it is in their terms and conditions per se.
For example, as some have mentioned, how is paying personal income tax prohibited by Citi?.

One of the big unknowns about the Citi T&Cs (and most CC T&Cs for that matter) is the definition of a "government charge". Per T&Cs they do not earn points, but it's unclear whether a "government charge" means now-obselete governments duties on financial accounts, or any form of payment to government (which would obviously include ATO payments).

Looking at that post by Hamnando in a benign manner, it could be just that the language was rather intemperate to most of us but could conceivably be consistent with a younger / more irreverent type of person who had not realized Cove's quality contributions and his gentleman's manner in his discourse on AFF.

I'd consider myself to be a younger person (emphasis on er - I'm definitely not young anymore), and certainly irreverent, but even after a week or two the post still reads to me as rude - acerbic, and dripping with sarcasm. Not to mention, being young, old, or anywhere in between is not an excuse for being a prick!

It was rude. I actually sent Cove a PM to apologise earlier this week.

I should have posted it on the thread, but figured everyone would have moved on.

Wafliron, i'm a bitter rude sorry prick with no excuses.

Seriously though it was rude and i'd like to apologise for any offense.

I moved on and put some personal taxes on 2 Westpac Platinum Kris Flyer Amexes, 2 Amex Ultimates and a point per dollar MasterCard. I am using some free days of credit....quite a few actually and the Amexes all run 1.5 points per dollar but with no warehousing.
Citi is off for us and it would be a fluke if you get points for ATO now on any of their cards.

I was looking to move to the Amex Qantas or Velocity card as my renewal for the Reserve Platinum was up at the end of March and they had indicated no more fee rebate for me. When I spoke to Amex just after the due date with the view to getting them to move me directly rather than going through the approval process, the CSR read out a line from something she had indicating that these cards were also moving to a .5 points per dollar for government utilities etc per the reserve from 1 April. This was for both Velocity and Qantas cards. The website still refers to 1.5points for anything other than Qantas or Virgin spend, so have you guys using these cards heard anything about this?

Please don't let it be true! Oh the horror!!! :(

I certainly have moved on - with the benefit of hindsight, bringing it up again after a couple of weeks probably wasn't my best move. I hadn't read the thread in that timeframe due to travel.

Kudos for manning up and apologising to cove, too.

So are you guys canning the select card since the changes for ATO earn?

Still weighing it up - and need to do some actual sums - but probably not (canning it) for me. I've got enough other expenses I can put through it that the points earn is worth the annual fee.

Ugh! Wish I'd seen this earlier... This was the first year I paid my income tax bill on my CC and had a number of Visa choices but stupidly put it on my CitiBusiness Card. Checked the statement and sure enough I'm missing those points...

I understand that they can't distinguish the kind of ATO transactions but this was a legitimate personal expense - I don't put through a gazzilion dollars of company tax bills that clearly breach the T&Cs of pretty much all personal credit cards.

*sad face*

Call and complain - at worst the T&Cs are ambiguous about points-earn for personal ATO payments, and at best they aren't disallowed.

I suspect you'll get a one-off credit...
