I'm a QANTAS frequent flyer, having been a BA Executive Club member when I lived in the UK, and transferring to the Australian BA Executive club when I moved home to Australia. Recently, BA converted all Australian Executive club members to the QANTAS frequent flyer programme for free.

Now, I've booked seats on a return flight to Bangkok with BA, and:
a) I can't use my QFF points to upgrade, and worse
b) all the decent coach seats are pre-allocated to their BA Executive Club members.

Farq!

Is there any light at the end of the tunnel? Would complaining to BA do any good???

Mike.

Welcome to AFF, MikeG. I was in your position a while ago when I was in both...

Unfortunately, you can't use QFF points on upgrades on non-QF flights (also known as metal). You also can't use them even if you are flying on the QF codeshare flight number. You can however use them for award tickets on any OW airline, but one day they might introduce it like *A.

You can still use the Manage My Booking service through the BA web site. This is open 24 hours prior to departure. You are correct that preferred seating is given to their own program members' first, however your seating request through your QFF profile should transfer across between systems. Alternatively you can ring QF Res and they can request your preferred seating from BA.

I managed to sus out the BA site, and have been able to select a seat that the travel agent couldn't select due to a bug with their software - so all is good - I'm going by what SeatGuru.com tells me...

Thanks for your help.

Mike.
