Dear Qantas: It’s Not Me, It’s You (A220s, Lounges, Curry, and Other Adventures)

It's a complete replacement, not just maintenance.
But an escalator shouldnt take 6 months to assemble onsite.

You can use the lift in MEL too, not just SYD.
In SYD you just help yourself to the lift in MEL the other week it was being guarded by QF staff deciding if you really needed to use it or not (i.e. yes to wheelchairs and old people, no to everyone else)!

I'm fairly certain they're breaking the law if they're doing that, not all disabilities/injuries are visible.

When I was there last month they just said it's available for anybody that needed it. I would count an inability to carry luggage down stairs as qualifying.

I was offered the lift to go down but they said you had to go back of house and be escorted. I declined.

Im sure you could ask, but having to be escorted is a real pain. I took the stars, no issue carrying my bag.

Flew Qantas in from BNE last night...had to check in twice...long story.

Premium security is where it always was to the left of the main bag drop, behind the old security line area. Closes at 17:45 now. They have new scanners, leave ipads in bag, and large trays for your backpacks and other items. Exits up escalator into Qantas Lounge area.

Second time check in was 19:00, had to use the normal security, enter this outside on the left of last Qantas door, plenty of signs but basically a construction site, then into a big shed. Old machines here, all items out and tiny A4 sized trays for your stuff so everybody needs three.
Wasnt real crowded last night but could see it being a mess.
Zig zag round and about up escalator and exit into food court area near front entry of Qantas lounge.

Virgin end getting security upgrade as well, but didnt use that.

Also toilet at end of Qantas Gate Pier (gates 20 ish) are closed so need to use ones in food court or lounge before walking up the Pier.

Cheese toasty and some ricey muck was there same as normal. Toasty was closed about 19:00 too.
Sausage roll on plane...not even a chocolate either...another enhancement?

Ah! "A day in the life of...........". Supply your own name or phrase!

I do have to agree with Token01, the board have penny pinched for soooo long now that It's become the norm. I genuinely blame AJ for all the difficulties QF are going through. He was a bean counter in a previous life so screwing 10 cents here and 5 cents there is what he bought o Qantas, from EBA's to food and drink. I do a lot in Econ but the odd flight in biz and I must admit, Virgin Biz do a better job. The new Broome lounge is nice but you still have to go on bended knee, cap in hand and beg for a beer/wine, ohh and the red wine is still from the fridge !!
