frozen pepe sayer butter you couldn't spread
As soon as a meal with any kind of butter is put in front of me, I place the packet under a warm items or dish on my tray. Alternative would be to ask for a tea/coffee/hot water and stick it under the cup. Just long enough to get it spreadable.

I usually hold it in my hand, assuming it's wrapped 😆

This food order stuff and getting it wrong. We were on a flight from Honolulu to Sydney. Just 8 passengers in J. The catering was dreadful. They ran out of main meals before they got to us. The annoying prat in Row 1 (we were in row 2) ordered the last dish. When the attendant said she had no more meals he said to her 'anyone that is upset just tell them to speak to me) 🤬. He was fine he had his damn meal. Bloody prat. All we had for a 9 hour daylight flight was cereal and cups of tea. He had that as well. They had nothing else warm to serve.

Trouble is that I just don't like row 1 and would have thought Row 2 was safe. Clearly not on Qantas.

Plane was actually a 737-800 Winglets i should have been more specific. That looked to me like what was parked at my gate but i was tired after virtually no sleep and early start so may well have snapped the wrong bird.

I did this, but the hot item wasnt very hot so made little difference.

This happened on FJ not QF. In row 2 on QF i got my preference. With only 2 rows on FJ, it is the last row of J. Worst was she made me take the chicken before proceeding to give man child the beef a second later (he ordered after me as did all of row 1), she really ought to have made him miss out.

Really enjoyed your TR ✅ This hotel definitely looks like it's worth giving a run  Which was the better flight, Over or Back ?

I was very happy with the Sofitel, staff were friendly and helpful, amenities were comfortable .

Got a bit of a squiz at some of the neighbouring properties in Denaru during tour pick up and drop off and from walking along the beach and seemed the best in area. Noting The Westin is a construction site and the loud annoying aussie bogans from one day trip were staying at Radisson Blu.

That said friend went to day spas at both Sofitel and Hilton and preferred the massage at the Hilton.

WRT flight FJ aircraft was newer and more comfortable and with menus etc felt more like a genuine international flight, vs QF which was akin to a SYD-MEL J in terms of comfort and food.

Crew on QF were friendlier, FJ screwed up my food order and also I had to ask twice for my sparkling water. But maybe the FJ FA was just having a bad day, it looked like Y got the FAs with personality.

I would absolutely fly FJ again provided i can get the QF flight number for the SCs. And seems the more comfortable option to Fiji, plus If you take the early morning flight its a A333 so would be even better (except for time of day). I originally had the A333 but decided more time by pool was better than leaving hotel before breakfast started.

Guess it happens on all airlines then.

Thought I was the only one who did that!

Great trip report, thanks for putting it together. MrsK and I have been tossing up whether to go to Fiji, as we haven't been there before. The resort certainly seems to have everything we would need, plus the tours look good.

The FJD $650 finally hit my account today, so hopefully I will get the bonus accor spend points too, upping my status.

Another hint: most of the day trips you can book from Denaru hotels i.e. island trips (snorkeling, diving, fishing) or cutural tours or ziplining or airport transfer etc can be boked direct with supplier online or via hotel travel desk. But if you want to pay in AUD then you can book them all via Viator just set your account to AUD (or Qantas webiste which also uses Viator and get bonus points) - saves worrying about foreign fees.

The times when it pays to book direct with provider is when they were having specials such as the free arvo at malamala, as the agregartors dont get these.

The best FJ flight from Sydney is the A350. We flew that to Fiji and it was great. But on the way back a leased Malindo B737.Probably the worst plane on the Fiji route.
