Daytime transit hotel at HKG - any ideas?

Hello everybody,

Somehow I have managed to end up with a marathon 15 hour layover at HKG (5am arrival, 8pm departure) in a couple of weeks, and to top if off I am on two, separate Y tickets.. I've been looking around online to see if there are any daytime/transit hotels at HKG and haven't been able to find anything concrete. As much as I would like to trek in to the city for the day, after a 15 hour flight YYZ - HKG in Y class I don't think I'll be up for it. My ideal world would be to check in after landing, do some work, sleep for a bit then jump on the evening flight back to SYD.

Does anyone have any experience with any hotels at or near the airport that do day time rates? I've done this before with no issue at KUL and SIN, but don't have much HKG experience. I figure someone here might?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I've been in the exact same situation - sometimes deliberately, in order to rest up between long-haul flights.

My go-to hotel for this scenario is the Novotel Citygate in Tung Chung. It's a 10-minute taxi ride from the airport. The Citygate has a day use rate, where you can stay between 15:00-21:00 for HKD900 (plus 10% service charge).

If I'm arriving into HKG early in the morning, I'll usually book a room at the Citygate for the night prior to my arrival, then add on a day stay. This means you've essentially booked the room for 32 hours, but it guarantees you'll be able to collect the room key at 06:00 (or whenever you arrive early in the morning) and stay until you need to leave.

Email [email protected] to make the reservation, as you can't book a day rate through the hotel website.

Another thumbs up for the Novotel Citigate, perfect for transits.
