Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Its a moot point now that TopCashback no longer linked to Langtons,
but:
Langtons purchase 28 Dec 2025
TopCashback payment 6 May 2026

Can anyone beat that for a TopCashback payment delay?

VM did the same thing, called it Cali Road Reserve and showed a bottle shot without Reserve on it.
I bought some of this with the $80 renewal credit…did anyone else note that the 2022 Cali was harvested in 2018?

Is this the Neldner Rd Silesian '21 at a slightly lower price point compared to last time?
Nah it's this:

There are some good deals at Skye Cellars currently especially combined with $80 credits for some of us who purchased $50 membership on the weekend.

Pirramimma Hartfell Shiraz 2022
📍 McLaren Vale
💰 Price: $171.00 / 6-Pack ($28.50/btl)
⌨️ CODE: HARTFELL
🔗 Order Link: Pirramimma Hartfell Shiraz 2022

Supposedly it is from the same fruit as The Earl that is/was available via Vinomofo. If so then it is on a heavier side of MV shiraz spectrum.
Previously I tried the Earl and the Warhorse shiraz that were pretty good at a discounted rate @Dr Ralph - any intel on this Pirramimma?

Also this Chardonnay looks interesting given CM and GW stamp of approval.

Longhop Adelaide Hills Chardonnay 2024
💰 Deal Price: $147.22 / Dozen ($12.27 per bottle)
⌨️ CODE: LONGHOP
⭐ Rating: 93+ Points — Campbell Mattinson (The Wine Front)
The Review:
"The grapefruit characters are strong here... there’s plenty of thrust to this wine. At $28 RRP this is out-of-the-box good. It’s a definite-buy."
🔗 Order Link: Skye Cellars

I think Skye Cellars are trying to give VM a run for their money. Which is good for us!

Cheers.
Any thoughts on Pirramimma vs
Hewitson Cask 66 Barossa Valley Shiraz 2024 ($162/3), or
Triple Creek Reserve Barossa Valley Shiraz 2021 ($192/12)

I haven't had a chance to try this Pirramimma, I had ACJ and The Earl and both were very good. I haven't had Hewitson Cask 66 and had Tripple Creek 2022 as a clean skin and it was excellent. That said I have heard the reports that 2021 wasn't as good as 2022 from somebody who had them both.

It does seem that wines that are either a bit meh, or often show up on discount sites are the worst affected by the glitch

Would have gone the Paringa Estate but only 10 bottles available in Sydney

I opened few of Reynella basket press shiraz 21, it doesn't taste good. values around 15-20.
Couple of questions if I may? (to spark conversation...)

If it was $15-20, would it taste any better?

Is a good tasting cheap wine better than a not-so-good or bad tasting expensive wine?

And, is say a 99pt $20 wine better than say a 95pt $50/$100 wine?

That's 3 questions.
1. No, but it wouldn't feel as much a waste of money.
2. Yes, that's maybe the Holy Grail - a great tasting inexpensive wine, they can be found, especially in glut times.
3. Yes (if I agree with the scores)

I work on QPR, Quality/Price Ratio, if I assess the quality as high I'm often prepared to pay a higher price. If the price is higher and the quality not so high I'm disappointed and send it back if it's a Vinomofo buy or don't buy any more if elsewhere. I have two tasting groups each week and buy a lot of single bottles to try with them before buying the standouts in quantity.

1. It regardless of its price, I just don't like it. $15-20 is talking about the price in DM. Actually this price wine in DM is better than this basket shiraz 21. Let's say I will prefer Brand's Lair Blocker Cab rather than this. My memoery of this tasting is blur, the fruit in the smell is not clean/pure, it may either oak management is bad or fruit mix a little other favour. Forgot the rest of tasting.

2. I don't know how to answer it. Maybe don't think in this way. Just try to look for a good wine and enjoy it.

3. (My own opinion) Point system has limitation, if you compare wines in the same price range (assume the rating is giving by the same person), then you know which one is better. In your example points won't tell which is better. Because it avoid the
a. unique favour only apprear in high quality grape, which it is naturally pleasant most of people without educated.
b. The mouth feeling other than tannic, acid, alcohol feeling, balance ... In here I talk about how well of the wine present itself characterist. It could be strong/muscle, elegance... Just like woman (or if you are woman then just like man), in all of your ex boyfriend/girfriend, they are totally different, some of them have a special personality/thing that make you remember forever.

Happy Friday.
