Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

If you do I'd be happy to split a case with you if you don't want the full 12

Are you associated with them at all?
I'm not associated with Skye in any way.
Early this morning I left SA for a month or so. I was busy yesterday getting ready for departure which is why I didn't have time to go to Skye.

I was talking about Winelover, joined yesterday afternoon, both posts spruiking Skye Cellars products.

All good re: the wine, I'm sure we'll share a case somewhere down the line!

I wouldn't wait if your interested. I've seen more than 40 of these go in the last 15 mins.

I think there's around 25 left.

UPDATE: 11 left!
UPDATE2: 6 left!
UPDATE 3: Sold out!!!

I'm not surprised. This was a great deal.
3 Litre is back in stock but the code no longer works.

6 litre pertaringa OTT 40% off using code 6LITRE

Im holding off for the 12L
Damn, I kicked myself for not getting in on the action last time. But $250 for the biggie doesn't make this great value over the undiscounted single bottle price. You can get some really good wines for $31. And I read that this is drink to 2029, which suggests to me it may be a bit limited.

So I suppose I need to ask myself how much I'm willing to pay for the novelty of a seriously stupidly big bottle!

Probs best I procrastinate til I miss out again...

Thanks. Credit needs to go to the Oz Bargain post where appropriate:

I see these aren't selling anywhere near as quickly as the 3 litre bottles. And they definitely aren't as cheap as they were earlier this year.

No way 2029 for the 6 litre!

Minimum of 10 years and I'd epect this size bottle to go for 20+ years. Wine in larger format bottles lasts for a LOT longer than the standard 750ml.

Was actually back in stock on the same day as the 3 litre discounted bottles. It's just that they had a certain quantity to sell at the discounted price only.

Yes, I only bought for novelty value. Whatever occasion it is that requires 50 or so glasses to be drunk, I don’t think the quality will matter that much. I’m aiming for my 70th, which is in 15 years.

Only twice in my life (so far) have I been at an event where a 6 litre has been brought out. Both were very memorable. And the wine was definitely consumed. It's goes much more quickly then you might think!

And no, none of these events were hosted by me or for me. I only managed to bring out a 3 litre bottle of Lakes Folly Cabernets for my 50th. I'll have to try harder for the next milestone!

I admit, I didn't procrastinate for long and just bought it! The FOMO is strong in this one...

The next milestone is/was your 51st ! Everyone is a milestone in my opinion so don't look at the 'only' part of the 3litre Folly when you cracked the half ton, start thinking of the future Dr Ralph. Think 'I can add one litre a year' to the 'occasion' so by the time you are fifty nine, it will be time to crack the Salmanazar. I reckon Paul Salmon from the Essendon football club who is 57 now would love to have a few buddies around to crack that one. But so you might think turning 60 is a big deal ? Well Doc let's go out now and buy ourselves a Balthazar. It's not everyday you turn sixty is it? Then again it's not everyday you turned twenty four either ! Finally, if you are a fan of the slogan 'Bigger is better" then Doc, and I know you like your fermented grape juice, seek now and ye shall find for the big shindig in 2034. The Nebuchadnezzar. With two zeds. Why so when the 12L and the 9L have one zed each. Was someone trying to make a statement here who penned these words. Definately wasn't a Pom, a Yank or an Aussie that's for sure. start looking now. It's only a 15litre bottle. Only, well for individual imbibement you might just go the way of Bon Scott. But what a way to go Doc. Your mates on earth would love to recant that tale. Nah, better to invite fourteen around and enjoy a litre each. That's the Aussie way.

Back to the Grays incident, I suspected a computer glitch as you recanted the tale but what I didn't expect was the cough customer service. If I was them, I would have offered you free freight of your next purchase. That would have been a smart move. However similar to you I have been on the receiving end of many stunning and cheap plonks from Grays so that I am thankful.

My last pip. My first time ever buying a Mike Press product a week ago. The 2021 Pinot from Nicks in Doncaster is so good I ordered another six pack. $18 a bot pickup. Seriously good stuff.

Enjoy all !

May wish to sign up to Mike Press Wines directly if wiling to buy larger volumes. Regular (bulk purchase) deals, and 2021 Pinot currently ~$17.10pb delivered if you buy a dozen. Nicks is great though (but miss being able to wander the "store" now warehouse!).

Maybe we should start a separate Grays thread, though being auctions I assume there's hesitation on what to suggest.

Hi Dr Ralph - Richard, Joint MD at Bec Hardy Wines and the inferior other half to Bec here. You're right, the drinking window - we've been conservative here. Some of these windows are getting a bit silly these days.
You're right re the cost too. They are a tad more expensive than they were earlier in the year. It's a long story but we bear a unique cost base on this product that links back to the transaction to acquire Bec's parents business. Hope you don't mind me jumping in. Cheers! Richard :)

Thanks Bill. Probably the last time we'll run these, so best to have jumped in as you did. Cheers! Richard

Haha. After my initial momentary dithering, my friend bought two more. So now we've in a flash gone from a FOMO-risking zero to three stupidly, insanely, nigh-moronically large bottles of wine. Good times.

Gold. There's a couple of people who've ordered 6 and 8 bottles each. Now that takes up some room! :)

Is Sky cellar’s membership worth it? Only $10 per year at the moment and very heavy discount for wines I never heard off….

I think so. Some good member’s deals come along every now and then, which make it worth it (especially for $10/year)!
