I'm tempted to buy Shaw & Smith @ $51
It'd be around $37.5 a bottle, unless First Choice did 30% CB I doubt I could get it cheaper.

I think the winery will win some awards this year, and it did get rated 98pts recently.

I rang local store, doesn't seem anyone has stock as an extended line but it's free shipping over $100 and even with the $10 off it's included! 👍👍👍

I realise there are a lot of anti Penfolds/TWE cynics out there (myself included) but I think I grab a couple of bottled of 2019 Bin 389 for $80 from Vintage Cellars for the cellar:

3 day offer. 2 bottles will get you free delivery. CR/SB only 2.5% but brings it down to $78.

I'd hold out, there's a chance an upsized cashback may come along next few days, and/or a promo code (generally works despite saying "no further discounts"). And it is highly unlikely they're gonna run out, since they just stocked it.

I am actually not a Penfold cynic, on the contrary I think that bin 389 is one of the best quality and value wines out there (to my taste).
However I would say $80 is a bit too much for it having seen that 2017 and 2018 vintages were obtainable for $55-$65 earlier this year. So that is my buy-in range for 2019 at some stage.

Agree, they will likely drop the price in a few months

Zero chance of missing out given vintages going back to 2013 are still available. With today's Liquorland deal you can get any of the last four vintages for about $77

I grabbed 3 bottles of the 2017 from Vintage Cellars in June at $55ea. There will be deals on the 2019 for years to come

I think I see if there's an increased CB over the weekend but I'll take 2 @ $80 either way and if there's a further drop down the track I'll stock up. TWE are pretty good at restricting discounting and protecting RRP,

I’m considering using my DJ’s AMEX offer in conjunction with their “Buy 2 get 25% off” offer today. They have a broad definition of food (includes champagne.)

Edit: it looks like it only works with some Bollinger wines

Hmm not really.

Some of their big brand such as Penfolds, Wynns and Wolf Blass have been heavily discounted in recent on regular basis years (even before Covid and the China ban).

TWE are pretty good though at inflating RRP :)

They're generally quite terrible.. who's ever paid the $45RRP for Wynns BL?
