Dan Murphy's and Other Wine Deals

Re: Vinomofo Wine Deals

IMHO, that's too bad for them. Once you've paid, you've got a valid contract. It's their problem finding the stock.

Unfortunately, Consumer Law doesn't usually conform to the vibe... There is actually nothing stopping a distributor from cancelling an order, and CM actually state as much in their terms: https://www.cellarmasters.com.au/terms, under section 4.4 and 4.5.

I guess, you could try and get them for fraud.... but, I suspect that'll be a hard case to win! :)

I have a few $50 wish cards @ 20% off to use up ;)

(I could not pass up the Amex $10 statement credit on DM $50 spend)
Steady, am I understanding you correctly in assuming you used the Amex offer to buy a wish gift card from DM online? Doesn't DM only sell DM gift cards online? Or am I completely lost?

yes you got it.

DM gift cards are WW gift cards and can be used at the same places wish cards are accepted

I must say nothing much on CM has really interested me.

I was intrigued by the Torbreck The Sporran at one point but realistically another six bottles of Shiraz is the last thing my cellar needs heading into the Summer.

The selection of whites and pinot available is pretty poor
I bought the Dovetail last time on grand final Saturday and have only given one away to a pinot afficianado bloke I know. He's into another taste world altogether so I sort of did a swappie. I look forward to his comments, but this wine picked up a gold gong in a yarra valley show last year so I assume it might be OK. I think it netted in around the $15 mark tops so I could be up for a ripper surprise, sort of buying on spec.

That's interesting that a vendor can unilaterally cancel an order under ACL - I find that rather surprising. That said ACL isn't contract law - you can't (in general) unilaterally cancel contracts, though I guess the T&Cs are accepted as part of the contract formation.

They have done some pretty dodgy things during this promo. I went to order some Essenze sav blanc as it's not bad to have around the house. Shows as available online, however when pressing pay I get an out of stock message.

That sounds like a pretty regular CM experience to me!

Known issue that stock levels are only checked when you actually pay. Very poor shopping experience.

That's BEFORE their other logistics issue of saying they have stock when they don't. Or say they don't.

I was only confident about my Maverick orders once I got shipping notification.

Missed the Torbreck so instead I picked up 2 dozen pinot noir $24.99 each - after CW and CM with WW 5% it comes in at $10.75 a bottle
Gotta be happy with that!

Glad you enjoyed it Cruiser.. Not bad for a cleanskin!!

Absolutely love this wine ste667, tried to find JD Cellars online to look at anything else they might have on offer like the Elderton but struck out badly (not that I'm under the impression that the deal is still current), could you provide a link or are they a "bricks and mortar" establishment? cheers, W&D
