CX Pier First Lounge spa appointments getting harder to secure

The last few times I've visited Cathay's excellent Pier First lounge at HKG, I've inquired about booking a massage. Each time, the next available appointment was in 4-5 hours. The first time, my flight would have already left by then so I didn't book, but the second time I happened to have a ~5 hour layover so just managed to squeeze a booking in.

The receptionist mentioned to me this week that they've started allowing online bookings for CX Diamond and CX F passengers. That might explain why the appointments are filling up, and you might not be able to get one with generic Oneworld Emerald status unless you get to the airport really early.

In all my visits to Cx Pier F, I think I have only managed to get 2 spa treatments!

In 2024 I made a travel mistake of arriving at HKG around midnight thinking that CX lounges are open 24 hours and ended up sleeping in the terminal but at least managed to get a massage first thing in the morning prior to my next flight

Calling it a spa treatment seems a little generous. I've only ever once had a massage and it's very much a poorer experience than the QF F lounge spa. If you don't get a spot, I really don't feel like you're missing out on much.

My back and neck massage was sitting on a stool almost. You're not in your own private room either.

I think they also had some new staff or at the very least a lot of confusion.

Whilst we were booking ours yesterday a CX Diamond approached who had made an online booking and they were confused and couldn’t see her booking at first.

Eventually she mentioned she made the booking online. A staff member exclaimed “oh and online booking” and seemed to look elsewhere for it before ushering her in.

We left the desk with a buzzer and were still not 100% sure the booking was made. It was all fine in the end though.

How was the treatment @Mattg? It was a nice surprise meeting you yesterday.

Indeed, it always amazes me how you randomly run into AFF members around the world. Thanks for saying hi!

I got the back & neck massage which was nice. I kind of needed it at the time so it was appreciated. Sure, it's not the QF F lounge spa experience (which I agree is much better) but it's still a nice service.
