China, being China... where’s the surprise?

From many angles CX is really in a difficult situation.

PRC considers all pro-democracy activities illegal on PRC land, even on PRC air spaces.

Some CX staff was shown the door once a screen capture on what they shared on personal FB was provided to management, as they are officially not allowed to be working in Chinese air spaces therefore they cannot fulfill their duties.

Pro democracy HKers will boycott CX, considering there are always cheaper options.

PRC passengers have many choices, and they value direct flight and baggage allowance more than anything, CX is often not their first choice.

Some foreigners would avoid transiting HKG altogether, as delays could happen.

HKers are generally not in a good mood anyway in the past few months, very hard to put a smile on naturally when things which has never happened in HK before, happens.

my CX crew friends have their FB account suspended as a job saving precaution.

Hence the big rally yesterday because the person fired that you referred to was Rebecca Sy, who had been a FA for 20 years and was Chairman of the Dragonair Cabin Crew Union.

CX Chairman John Slosar has resigned. He's retiring though apparently.

Think his retirement was announced in February anyway.

Let's hope the new CX Chairman starts his tenure with Slosar-style "exciting offers" like the Vietnam First Class fare!
