My wife and I was asked by the lady who stamps our passports if everything was Ok. I declared on my entry passenger card in Sydney that I have chronic medication with a doctors letter. She then took her pen and wrote passionately with great energy on my passenger card the letter "E" big and bold, whereas on my wife's passenger card, she wrote the letter "C" before she stamped our passports.

Does anybody know what this "E" and "C" means? She did not look particularly friendly to put it mildly. Thank you in advance to who ever answers the question

Not sure about the current letters, but they are code to identify how you should be handled at exit.
Did your exit through the xrays differ? Did you get a bag search or additional questions?

Sounds like you completed your declaration honestly and therefore have nothing to worry about.

Is there a current list of what each letter means and how it is supposed to be handled at exit? I've recently been getting a 'W'.

Without disclosing too much, the letters change so it is not possible to predict what a particular letter means.

They do seem to do it with great force and passion (not that I've entered via an Australia person for a while - the self serve machines are more friendly and have a better attitude).

I was going to write the same thing!
