Current F Lounge Menu (SYD/MEL) and relevant topics

Would very much appreciate seeing the SYD F Lounge wi yet menu when it is out. I used my points to book my brother on F flight SYD-DFW and it’s his first international flight only anything but Y.

As this is 50th birthday present really want him to have a great experience so once I see an imagine here on the winter menu I’ll be sharing it with him :)

Thanks a lot for sharing! I assume this is from Melbourne or are the Sydney renovations done already?
It's on the first line, in case you missed it.

Good to see the SYD kitchen is finished, no real change to the breakfast menu besides the seasonal accompaniments to the pancakes.

Also noticed in the last few visits some bacon and egg brioche rolls in the self serve area - haven't tried from there yet - but nonetheless convenient, given how busy it can get in the mornings.

Photos have come out in a bit of a random order. Menu is very similar to Autumn, but with variations. We started with the kale salad and the spaghettini (no photo) followed by the duck and barramundi - serves were not large, so we also snuck in a brisket. We had the mochi cake again for dessert.

The risotto with the fish and the curry with the duck made enough of a change up so that it didn’t feel like too much of a repeat. The RG Lane Shiraz Cab Sav 2010 in the decanter was excellent. All round quality and service very good - quite a busy day leading into the long weekend. No spa treatment availability.

I've heard good things about the burger but I've tried it twice in Melbourne and found the bun quite oily both times.

You may laugh and think "this idiot ordered a cheeseburger and is complaining about the oil" but this was unpleasantly greasy, and surprising as I quite like Neil's other burgers at Rockpool and Burger Project.

Perhaps I've just been unlucky - I need to try it in Sydney next time. Has anyone else found the same?

An update: The Winter menu will be available from Thursday. The staff are trained in SYD and then the instructors fly down to MEL. The long weekend has interrupted this process slightly hence the delay in MEL.
The official start of Winter, being 1st June here, has been known about in Oz for more than 100 years.

So maybe they weren't given enough notice?

Would be nice to see some new dishes on the menu instead of the seasonal updates they seem to do these days.
It's great that it changes at all, but yes, could be so much better. There was a period maybe 3 or 4 years ago where the dishes from one quarter to the next were really different and I (and others) would post detailed pics and thoughts on the latest offerings. Very little point these days.

I feel like the quality and service at Melbourne is sliding continually.
It's not that the food is bad, it is just at a level where I would be disappointed if I paid $15 for it in a cafe.
I would also like more gastro-pup type offerings, simple food done well.

I wish they kept the Sashimi on the menu all year, that was always a fav.

Definitely. I used to prefer MEL over SYD for it’s intimacy but lately, it has become really messy and feeling cramped rather.

Often people have to queue up to get a seat in the restaurant area and staff seems to be not capable of managing the process so random guests sometimes squeeze past to a recently empty table while others who do the right thing and try and gets staff assign them one, are kept waiting.

Sydney seems to cope with the crowds much better, probably because of sheer size difference. But still- I really think complaints about both these Flounge are extreme first world problems: They are still amongst the best in the world and my personal single sole reason to ensure to never ever lose my platinum status with the roo.
