Credit cards you are cancelling post 2017 changes

Yes. You can get 1:1 for VFF if you wait for the 15% bonus transfers

Only catch is the annual cap which I've worked out to be about $5k/month spend.

I recently received an offer to transfer all my FB to VA without the annual points cap applying (had maxed that out in the first bonus offer of the year). I've taken it up with 15% bonus. Will then eventually cop the 1:1.35 haircut to turn them into SQ points.

I recently closed off my CBA Gold Rewards card ( with associated AMEX ). Did it over the phone.

They didn't offer anything at all ( I didn't ask either ).

In fact, they didn't even ask WHY ??

( didn't close account due to 1st. July changes - just that CBA had lousy points earning, and I've moved to NAB & Macquarie ).

I've already cancelled my Citi Free for Life Signature
why would you do that?

Surely as a backup there isnt much better unless you are spending north of 20k on it. Otherwise you wont make up the difference on the Coles card.

^lost your priority passes too..... Free always keep em.... Just lower the balance

Over years of credit card use we have really not been churners of cards. With the Reserve Bank changes American Express has become more valuable and the big 4 bank credit cards are only good for a first year sign on bonus.I still have 6 wallets of credit cards and loyalty cards and yesterday we both activated the new Qantas/Citi credit card.
The US credit cards we use are Citi/AA, Chase Sapphire, American Express Premier and the Costco/Citi.
I remain impressed with Bankwest World and Westpac Platinum Kris Flyer.

I received a tip yesterday on Citi Prestige so I have negotiated a 4 month win on that one.
Unfortunately you can only have two American Express cards in Australia so I have Ultimate and a Platinum Edge.
At the office we have started to use BW World and SQ Kris Visa as well as Citi Prestige for various reasons.
We get 38 tax bills for our main trading entity 26 of which are fortnightly group tax and 12 monthly BAS bills. Crazy huh!
Then our family each get ATO quarterlies for six entities plus the 4 of us. Now that is 78 ATO payments a year all up.
Payroll tax is 60 payments a year as we operate in 5 State locations.
I am hoping we get some red tape cut out of our lives but it hasn't happened so far.

I will be keeping the American Express Explorer, probably. I need to consider which Visa card I get, probably Citi.

I have to cancel the ANZ explorer once I redeem the free flights. The Westpac Qantas platinum once I take a trip (trapped into the free travel insurance). The NAB something card that I have churned twice once I payed off the bill.

I'm thinking that I may buy a house in the next few years, if the prices 'stabilize', so I better watch all those applications. I've got enough points for the next two (or three) annual holidays and this years has already been and gone also.

Correct, but remember you aren't rewarded for holding onto most CC's these days (AMEX's excepted). The way I look at it is I'd be doing is excluding myself from future signon bonuses with Citi by holding it. Especially at their new earn rates! It's a strange world we live in these day - reward for not showing loyalty.

That really was the only reason to keep it. But with the AMEX Plat Charge the unlimited priority passes trump the Signatures ones. It was a good feature though.

I'll be cancelling my NAB Velocity Platinum this month, once the statement points are safely in. It was due for the chop soon anyway, with the annual fee due next month. I got it originally for the bonus points at the time (don't we all :)), but kept it for the 1.5ppd Amex earn. Now that it's only 1ppd on the Amex, I've moved that spend over to my Amex Platinum Edge.

Don't forget you can transfer to Etihad, which I think is outside the cap. Some quite good redemptions for VA.

Whats the Citi Prestige tip?
cheers

ANZ FF Black gone, replaced by AMEX QANTAS Ultimate and new Qantas Mastercard. Tried to get QANTAS companion card for wife, but they are not yet doing this - extra cards on account won't be available for some months they say.

Westpac Black Amex and MasterCard Combo went today. (Diners/Mastercard combo would also have gone but they waived the annual fee. )

Hi guys

Can anyone tell me whether or not there are any (non-amex) amex cards which still offer 1:1 yield and can transfer to either QF or VA? Or are those days now over. I have the Westpac Black and Westpac Platinum Business but I'm not sure those will be any good now... Being able to transfer to a number of different airlines was great, but not so sure about it with an amex (amex) card as I'd have to pay $1500pa and it's capped at 375,000 pa. RBA are not on my xmas list to say the least

Thanks in advance

Only your bonus point earn (categories earning 3 and 2 pts per dollar) is capped at 375000 with the platinum business Amex. Once that is reached you will still continue to earn at 1 point per dollar, unless of course the spend happens to be in a 0.5pt per dollar category. Unless my interpretation is incorrect.

Heya! Just wondered if you could please share with me your Citi Prestige win?

Thank you! :)

Cancelled out of ANZ they have lost the business due to taking away so many points benefits and we now have AMEX direct cards, also 2 of our friends done exactly the same.

+1 is about to cancel ANZ Black :)
