I am totaly confused, two days of reading and i am beyond words in frustration. Please help. What i am after is one shared credit card we can use for all our purchases that will give us the best burn rates in travel points. We are United M/P holders and will use our points we have up as we can't get c/card use here that adds to United M/P.
So, to start anew with Qantas FF?, which i think all our C/c purchases can earn points towards, or maybe there is another carrier that gives us International travel that is better?.
We have too many cards:Joint Gold ANZ Visa + Joint Gold Amex + my own ANZ first Blue card. W/W Ezy, C/W streamline and company W/Pac.
I wonder if a HSBC Plat M/Card or Westpac Earth or Ezy Mastercard will be good for what i want?. Which then means i cancel all but the one Amex, C/W streamline and W/Pac company cards.
What a wake up call this research has been on your site. It sure has let me know that i am as thick as a brick and not as cleaver as i thought!.
A tip: Last year in France our Visa card got held by the autoteller after making too many mistakes, we could not get it back till the next day. Thankfully we had the Amex as backup emergency card.

    Welcome to AFF.
You indicated that you had an Amex Godl, but if you had an American Express Rewards Maximiser card you would earn 1.5 points per dollar, and if you kept your Woolworths Ezy card, which gives an earn of 1:1, you would have everything covered for Qantas ff program. In respect of the cost of these cards they are probably two of the best for QF.

Or the AMEX Platinum card - also 1.5 QFF per $ points earn. Much higher annual fee than Maximiser but also includes a QF return flight and travel insurance.

If you were to spend a lot on purchasing QF flights you could also consider the new QF Amex cards, although the benefits are more limited and the points go exclusively to Qantas. With the AMEX Platinum you can direct your points to various services which is better IMO.

Agreed that the Amex Plat credit card @ $395 pa is good value, if you can take advantage of the QF flight between capital cities, however, as pointed out in other threads Amex has moved the goal posts and taken Perth out of the schedule from Sydney "IF" your application for the card was approved "AFTER" the 1st June 2006.

I have contacted AMEX and they said if you had your Plat card prior to 1st June 2006 then you are still entitled to fly SYD PER. In saying that, how long is it going to take themn to remove Perth from Sydney schedule.

The schedule is on the following site:
