Instils me with confidence oz_mark, given I'll take that flight (or vv) in the next couple of weeks in J. You beat me to posting it by minutes :)

I was sitting next to the engineer in J class this afternoon who was flying to ADL from MEL to fix it. (We were the only two in J class and chatted..)

Wonder what the turnaround time will be for this job. R&R, test seal by pressurisation....?

He didn't say ... he didn't have many details by the time he was on the way...

hmmm, coughpit windows do it now and then, but a passanger window is strange ! I am sure its just one of those things that happen.

What are they made out of ? glass or some poly carbonate type substance ?

Considering that the 747-300 is getting on in age, 'incidents' like this will happen from time to time.

*saying that - these problems can occur on newer a/c*

I think the problem is the frequency these problems are occuring. These QF Perth/East coast flights seem to have had some bad press lately. Cancelled services, smoke in the coughpit . . .

Still not as bad as when they were using the 742's nearing the end of their flying careers.

The 743's are getting a stint on the PER/SIN route shortly as well ( I guess an A330 is out for a lube or something ), so hopefully that won't have the same run of trouble.
