LOL, at 1600 per bag, there will be quite a few ex-owners better off methinks!

Pity the frequent travelers who use hard Samsonites - wash down with the firehose and miss out on the cash grab...

oh well, cough happens :)

Hmm - if this happened to my luggage $1600 wouldn't cut it. The bag alone was $1000 (and this hand luggage) - chuck in a couple of Polo shirts and you're already over $1600...

I remember awhile back a RAAF German Sheperd dog had a bit of a mishap in the DRW baggage area with a similar result for a few bags.

I hope that travel insurance would paya lot. 1600 would definitely not cover my suitcase...

Holy cough
Loved the photos and stories that accompanied the article.:lol:

Wonder if the Amex Platinum charge card travel insurance ($900.00 pa membership fee) would pay the shortfall if you were out of pocket?

Not sure if Amex Insurance covers sewerage covered luggage, but the cover is a generous AUD700 a day for delayed or missing luggage (IIRC). According to their web site:

Personal Baggage: up to $30,000 overall and single item limit/photographic equipment/ laptop, up to $5,000.

So there is a good chance there may be a top up.

 I'm going to steal all of your bags when I see them

I don't think my luggage is worth more than $300 all up. I gotta upgrade my lifestyle.
