I have been checking out all of the hotels on the Strip and have narrowed down my 'favourites' to these three so far. I'll be in Vegas for 4 nights in Oct 2011 and want something a bit posh for a final splurge before coming home.

But of course if I can get the rates down by using any PROMO codes that would be a fantastic bonus.

Has anyone stayed at these hotels recently and can offer their opinions on which would be the best ? I'm not a gambler so the casino part doesn't worry me too much. It's more the pools, dining facilities, little luxuries and entertainment factor that I'm interested in.

Thank you.

Although nor on your list, dont overlook the hilton - was there in October, nice, good restaurants and a monorail at the door

I have only checked out one of the suites in the Wynn when a friend was staying there and I was at the Bellagio. I was very impressed by the Wynn but at the same time, felt the location was a bit too north of the strip, but that's just me.

Out of this bunch, I'd probably go for the Cosmopolitan but that's just baseing it on the photos I see on their websites, but also consider the new Mandarin Oriental in the same complex I believe. Otherwise a suite in the Bellagio will be pretty impressive, and the pool areas are veryyyy nice. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there.

It's not on your list, but Aria is very nice. Stayed there recently and was very impressed. Similar to Wynn (stayed there in 07) with that "small casino" feel, despite being large properties.

If you're not a gambler though, MO is supposed to be amazing. I didn't have much luck finding decent promos there though.

Cosmopolitan was a few weeks from opening when I was there, but it looked pretty impressive from the outside. Along with Bellagio and Aria/MO, it has a great location. Pool looked pretty nice too, from what I could see.

Cheers,
- Febs.

The Venetian or Palazzo is pretty good. Subscribe to them and they will send you promo offers regularly. Prices starts around US$129.

If you like, PM me with you email and I will forward to you my invite.

Daughter stayed at Aria last Feb. She loved the position and the quality of the place.

I recently splurged and spent several nights at the Encore, sister property of the Wynn (and only recently opened).

Highly recommend it. Had a Suite on the 60th floor which was upgraded at checkin (for $20USD per night extra). Worked out to be sub-$200 a night for it.

Was amazing. Pictures can be seen here:

(excuse quality, was only taken with iPhone).

It's a little on the North side, but a 10 minute walk up to Venetian and Treasure Island. I found it a great place to stay, and the bed... the best bed i've ever slept in. I spent most my time sitting on the Chaise in the lounge room just enjoying the view, drinking in the vodka as well as the panorama :)

Would go back there in a heartbeat!

(I also managed to get in the high roller duplex two storey apartments down at the tower end, simply amazing but I wasn't allowed to take pictures of them unfortunately).

Thanks to everyone who has replied.

Nobody has mentioned Trump's so it's either no good or nobody has stayed there yet. I'll consider all suggestions and make a decision......

Thanks again.

We just returned 2 days ago from a 7 night stay at the Cosmopolitan and I cannot recommend it high enough. We booked a package (city living) through the hotel website for a Terrace Suite which included a $260 resort credit (to be used at any restaurant or room service etc). When we arrived on the 2nd January we were unable to check in straight away as 2000 people had checked out that morning after New Years and they were still getting rooms cleaned. Anyway we headed to Bellagio for the buffet and then headed back to find our room was now ready and they had upgraded us to the huge wraparound suite on the 36th floor of the East Tower overlooking the bellagio fountains and the strip.
The suite was mindblowing, 1400 square foot interior with an additional 500 square foot wrap around balcony! Two amazing bathrooms, huge lounge room/dining, kitchen, very comfortable bedroom and incredible view, infact better than the view we have previously had from the Bellagio Lakefront rooms as you can see up and down the strip and to the left and right of it.
The chandelier bar is amazing, and lots of really cool sculptures and artwork around the property. We used our resort credit up by ordering room service a couple of mornings and 3 trips to the buffet which again is very creative and has a very different take on the usual buffet in vegas.
We have stayed at Bellagio, The Venetian and the Wynn previously and enjoyed all of them but this is now our personal favourite and its in a great position too.

Cosmo is in a better position imo. Depends if you plan on leaving the hotel or not. If you are going to stay in the one place then it doesnt matter where you stay. They are all high end and will not disappoint. If you are walking around stay central ie cosmo. Wynn is a long way north, Trump is behind the strip near Wynn, cosmo is smack bang on the strip just south of Bellagio. Its a short walk to just about anything you would want to see.

If your going to go on a bender stay somewhere cheaper as you wont notice the room that much, I didn't.....

stayed at Luxor and had a ball. Really cheap and they let you win when you play blackjack.

Wynn is excellent but less convenient. Buffet is not cheap but the food and selection is very good - they run it like a 5 star bistro with individual chefs for each cuisine. They do run a bus service to the monorail. I agree that Hilton is also worth a look. Its off the strip but with the monorail at the front door still very convenient.:)

Thanks mole. I am leaning towards Cosmo now. The hotel photos look great and it's in a great position on the Strip.

A couple of questions, are there any rooms that face to the rear of the building rather than the Strip or Bellagio? I'd hate to be stuck at the back.

Also, can you remember what the price of the Wicked Spoon buffet was for breakfast, lunch or dinner? Are the other restaurants priced on the high side?

You say the Buffet is creative, what do you mean by that?

There are 2 separate towers, the East and West. We were in the East Tower facing the strip/fountains and from what I could make out most of the rooms/suites in this tower would have strip views. I think they are opening the West tower progressively over the next few months, personally I would request a room in the East tower with a strip/fountain view, this tower is closer to the strip and it is such a change to be able to get to your room quickly. Make sure you join there 'identity' programme on the website so you get sent promotions etc.
The Wicked Spoon was $27 tax inclusive for dinner and quite different from other buffets (including bellagio/wynn) in that they really make a huge effort with presentation, lots of individual dishes eg individual prawn coughtails, little individual metal fish frying baskets with small pieces of fish in them, racks of lamb, individual pastas etc. Food is very good quality and well cooked. The dessert bar is amazing, includes a separate fudge/chocolate bar, giant choc strawberries and choc covered mini apples on sticks, icecream bar with approx 10 gourmet ice creams, and lots of mini desserts etc. There is also a coffee shop.
Holsteins and The Henry are just a couple of the reasonably priced restaurants. We ordered room service a couple of mornings and a full breakfast including choice of breads (sour dough etc), 2 eggs anyway, bacon and breakfast potatoes was $15.
We went for a look at the Boulevard Pool deck on the fourth floor overlooking the strip (too cold to swim, we had snow one day!). Extremely cool vibe, lots of modern loungers, some in the shallows parts of the pool, and an area with pool tables, ice hockey, table tennis etc.
I do have a lot of photos and will try and post some, will also be submitting a review on tripadvisor.com. We were extremely impressed with the place.

I can also vouch for the MGM, was a fantastic place to stay.

If you're set on one of those two though, I'd go the Cosmo. Wynn is brilliant but a way off where the action is, same with Trump.

Having walked almost all of the strip just over two weeks ago, I would select Cosmopolitan for location. On the strip, all properties look close but that's deceptive. What looks like a five minutes walk could be 25 minutes away on foot.
(I stayed at Paris LV).

I wouldn't worry about facing away from the strip, some amazing desert views across the burbs as well.

As for the food, a Michelin Hat in Vegas is the price of a good place in Sydney and there are several in Vegas.

Matt
PS, I usually stay at the MGM

Trump isn't on the strip its actually quite a long walk off the strip (probably 15-20 mins); I was actually offered free accm at Trump on my last trip to Las Vegas in August but didnt take it coz the location just isn't great for getting around and I didnt want to have to catch a cab everytime I wanted to get around.

I always stay at Bellagio and think its hands down the best location on the strip for getting around as its right in the middle, but out of the list you've mentioned, id go Cosmopolitan...though I still prefer the feel of Bellagio.

Have a great trip.
