Indeed, I get the impression Aussies are too busy emptying supermarket shelves to go on holiday!
cheers skip

Not at the supermarkets I frequent. And at Costco, when don't shoppers here have full trollies?

I think it is more that hand sanitiser has a run on.

I'm not saying I have lots of sanitiser but being home for almost 6 weeks means I haven't finished the small 50ml bottle in my bag. Hubby only going out once per week so he's the only one using it.

I still have a couple of litres at home and at the office and have 12ltrs in mid May coming (for office, 10 people only allowed rule). Order was delayed as manufacturer had ethanol issues.

Funny how Woolies sent out an email saying buying limits are being lifted on more products EXCEPT toilet paper, then an hour later, Coles sent an email saying toilet paper supply is back to normal and that limits could be lifted next week.

So I discovered how to clear an aisle at Woolies today !! I popped into Woolies today on my way home from seeing my GP - had the flu shot this morning.
I was pushing my trolley around an entered a new aisle and before I could grab a tissue out of my pocket did a huge sneeze - boy did everyone move out FAST !

Just had my flu injection in the carpark at the back of the doctor's surgery. Then off to do my shopping. A whole aisle of toilet paper and tissues - woo hoo.

I went to Brickworks today. The only thing still missing are the disinfectant wipes I've used for years. I still have one last pack. Eggs seemed a little short supply though. And Dans have released their conditions so I bought a six pack of beer, gin and some sparking.

And had a Hair cut! Last time in early March I was off to Bali and then the hairdresser was off to Bali over Easter for a wedding. Obviously neither happened. In fact in the last week of March they were very busy as people thought they would have to close completely.

Originally she was going to close when the Hairdresser restrictions came in. Then they were repealed so she stayed open. She has a large salon so always plenty of space. She said today she has picked up so many new clients because so many decided to shut. She thinks May might be slower and currently looking at that for Job Keeper eligibility.

Plenty of TP today in Woolies but flour still in short supply. My wife said eggs were very low in Coles. The stores were the busiest I have seen in weeks. It seems the announcements of the first wind-back of isolation measures in W.A. has filled many people with an over-abundance of optimism.

Sounds like a dodgy drug deal

Or...... perhaps they're panic buying again, because the infection numbers will rise!

I can only report third hand, haven't been inside a supermarket for nearly 3 weeks. Neighbour says of woollies in CBD - nothing in short supply, stacks of hand sanitiser on display, store almost deserted, toilet paper aisle full and some TP being discounted

I can't remember the name of the Sushi place as you go into Brickworks but I was in the loo there a couple of weeks ago. One of the staff from there walked out of the toilet using her phone and had her mask down. She pulled the mask back up with one hand while still looking at her phone and then went and washed her hands. Never going to get sushi from there. I was at Coles at Burnside today. There's a bit thing about not being too close but they've opened adjacent aisles now so as you are putting your groceries through you're almost bumping into the person doing the same on the other side

First time I've seen stock at Woolies since this whole thing started

You must live in one of those "naughty hoarder" suburbs. ;)

Been plenty of TP in the nearest 3-4 supermarkets for at least 2 weeks

I have not seen antibacterial wipes in Coles, Woolies, Drakes or Foodland stores in weeks. I've already checked in a Woolies and Coles this week and Drakes and Foodland on the weekend. Another item gone to the eastern states again. No need to limit the items, they just are never there.

Ironically (fortuitously?) , like Kleenex TP double length rolls, Glen 20 was on 1/2 price special the week before any panic buying. Given my usual practice of only ever buying non-perishables when they are on 1/2 price, I decided to buy and put 4 cans in the cupboard as they would last me a good 3-4 months.

Two weeks later, zilch available in Coles and Woollies; not that I needed any.

Haven't been to a supermarket of any kind for more than 2 weeks so not sure if it is in short supply still in Melb.

Quite amazing, local Chemist warehouses still have 0 stock of 500ml Betadine Antiseptic solution and have had 0 for many weeks .
I use this stuff in bulk for a horse; It is Iodine based and I cannot imagine what people are doing with it as Iodine stains like crazy...
