Indeed, I get the impression Aussies are too busy emptying supermarket shelves to go on holiday!
cheers skip

Not at the supermarkets I frequent. And at Costco, when don't shoppers here have full trollies?

I think it is more that hand sanitiser has a run on.

Foodland just had empty shelves. I think you need to ask for it.

Have asked a few times, always the same answer: no stock, no idea when the next delivery is. Just rather surprising the east coast and west coast seem to have plentiful supplies, but SA doesn't. 🤔

Hope she gets no offers.

Hear, hear!
She's trying to make a buck - bet she didn't pay $20/packet when she panic-shopped. Hope she's stuck with it for a b****y long time: I calculated (How Much Toilet Paper?! The Toilet Paper Calculator) on 200 rolls of the stuff (it won't go higher!) and this was the result:

200 rolls on Hand
  • 150 sheets/roll
  • 4 people in the household
  • 5x a day per person
  • 5 sheets a wipe x2 wipes
Would last her:
150 days or just over 5 months!!!!

I have been receiving a few e-mails from Coles this week with their specials, so looks like things are starting to return to normality?

Coles is allowing everyone to online and home deliver now, I must have missed that.

One thing , amongst many , I doubt we shall return to our big shop at Woolies being done personally. Especially if Woolies bring back the delivery to the counter.
The delivery cost is negible in consideration for not having to carry it in and up stairs

I am wondering when our aqua centre will reopen? I do hope due to all the chemicals and water it might be a sooner rather than later. Being one of the large old things Aqua is so easy on the joints and missed at this time

Anyone in a metro area still seeing toilet paper shortages at their local supermarket? In the last fortnight or so the Coles and Woolworths I've been to are chock-full of TP and the excitement/madness/brutality we saw earlier has gone.
The TP at work has held out for most, if not all of the day for most of the past week.
The problems I've seen lately have been flour, pasta, soap and the supply of eggs has been completely random.

Pick up was reopened a week ago. It's available for ordering to people with priority assistance 6 days out, then remaining slots are opened to everyone 1 day out.
They are rolling out home delivery to selected other stores.

You need to visit Adelaide stores then. TP just not there yet.

You might have to go raid the Kleenex mill then.

I would have thought SA would have the least problems given that Kleenex has its factory there. Fewer logistics required to get stock around Adelaide.

Apparently instead of the trucks turning left to Adelaide they turned Right - to the Eastern states. There was an online news article today where Woolies acted like they were the good guys saying they were now supplying SA which was an admittance that they had neglected us to supply the east.

For those who would like an alternative to boring dunny rolls, here is something to consider:
They are out of stock but maybe when everyone is allowed to poo again

Some must be turning left. There are no problems in my area of fairly inner-city PER.

Maybe they blink approaching ADL and miss it. Next stop PER. :p

I spoke with some older friends who are doing the Woolies priority online orders. They have not had toilet paper delivered in any of their deliveries at all. The local chemists and service stations seem to be able get lots of supplies of toilet paper, but sell it at inflated prices.
Flour is still not available on our shelves. Is everyone baking?

There's a bakery south of Adelaide with plenty of flour - I've made soda bread and sour dough and crumpets are next.

I am just eating home made ginger cookies now ;)

Yes our Woolies nearby has had flour for a couple of weeks now. Fora little while it was self-raising, but also has plain flour now.

I was in our local asian grocery today and they had 12.5kg bags of flour. To big for our needs.

I haven’t been into a Coles nor Woolies now for almost 10 weeks. Keep doing pictures so I can remember the good old days....

We rolled the dice and shopped together yesterday, swmbo was quite excited to be out and went berserk , filling a big trolley in a flash.
Both Coles and Woolies were very quiet and I opine that the infection risk was low , stock was mostly good .
Swmbo is going back this morning for a hair appointment , rolling the dice again….

went to my local woolies, absolutely teeming with people, the vast majority over 70yo. Terrible to see!

Toilet paper available, but at $1 a roll I'll wait. Still no liquid soap. Popping corn kernals were the only other things I saw was out.

My Woolies on Monday was very sparse with people. It was almost unnerving trying to concentrate on doing my shopping while feeling like I was in a vacuum. Plenty of stock of just about everything as far as I could tell.
