Comparison of BA v QF First and Business Classes

Actually i havent checked recently, but the last time i checked (about a week ago), there were plenty of first class tickets from SYD - LHR on the QF1!!!!
Around what dates were you looking? When I was looking recently for seats for July, August and September 2009, I did not see one QF F seat, but did see plenty of BA F seats available. I was looking SYD-SIN, SIN-LHR, SYD-BKK, BKK-LHR and SYD-LHR. The most reliable option was SYD-BKK then BKK-LHR on BA as two separate "trips".

hmmm, i believe i was looking in the March 09 window...but who knows with the way the award database works...everytime i log in, it seems like a completely new selection of award seats are presented!

grrr....

Are you refering to the old club world or the NEW club world? I've read in trip reports that the NCW is much bigger than the old one.

One question - for BOTH QF and BA J, do the armrests position flush with the seat when they are in the lying position (therefore "widening" the torso area)?

Sorry if this sounds amateur...i'm planning my honeymoon and trying to decide whether to burn my QFF points on a BA or QF J to US (via europe). If i accrue enough points i may even try F (just to use the Sydney Flounge - is it really that good or is it over-rated?)

Usable resting "platform" area on the Skybed is basically rectangular, the same at the head as at the feet.

The Cub World bed is narrower as well by a few cm. They fit 8 across a 747 while qantas fit 7 (the top/tail BA configuration assists). Also, the BA seat is narrower as the feet than at the head, forcing passengers to rest their feet in a central position.

Both are much better than any WHY seat ...

Arm rests on QF J and BA new J do collapse with the seats when reclined.

IIRC Armrests on BA old J do not go down with the seats.

Correct.. and its not the most comfortable sleeping seat... QF J compared to the old CW. (I find it too short) I am not sure if there is any difference between the 777's and 747's though.

I think it is a very good lounge and many reports here echo that sentiment. It makes the journey just that little bit more special and with a booked F ticket you can book a spa appointment in advance.
