Hi all.
As an extension to the question of long term planning for credit cards in retirement , I got my wife to get a commbank card in her own name so she has some capacity to use credit when I die.
It has a $4000 spend per month to maintain no fees.
It also is useful when we travel as it has no foreign transaction fees and includes travel insurance with conditions.
Only issue is I am not covered if she is not travelling with me on the snow trips.
Anyone had experience with getting a joint ultimate card through commbank?
Alternatively does anyone have other suggestions ?

A friend has raised this issue. In reading the CBA card travel insurance T&C, it said a 'cardholder' gets cover. If the card is in your wife's name, and you are a supplementary cardholder, then both of you are 'cardholders'. Therefore, each should be able to get card insurance cover whether travelling together, or alone. Our friend actually phoned the CBA on this, and they confirmed that his wife (travelling by herself, she is his supplementary cardholder) would be covered. He is the primary cardholder and they normally travel together - except for that one time, she travels by herself.
It is worth giving the CBA a call to verify the above.
PS - I am the primary cardholder, hubby is the secondary / supplementary cardholder. I have activated card travel insurance for hubby on the occasions he travelled by himself.
