Comfy dress vs Acceptable dress

My friend who is QF LTG and current WP1 does, when she doesnt get an upgrade that is. She has a good batting average on upgrades and/or entire Y row to herself.

Yes - why not, they're just pjamas (although I tried to take a set home as a 'special' gift to MBH, once - that's a new thread in itself). Now if you were wearing a set of Peter Alexanders, then I'd call that out

For me comfort would be the most important consideration on a 24 hour flight. However, I don't like looking like a slob. A nice pair of dress shorts, light weight chinos, PJ's from any airline to sleep in. As long as people aren't wearing offensive clothing or have bits hanging out everywhere, I don't really care what they wear.

Taking off my bra for long hauls is something Ive never thought of.

I have thought about but never got that far even though it’s dark and I spend the majority of the time tucked in my seat.

I think I just don’t want to deal with putting it on again in those tiny bathrooms!

I’m with Buzz. I like comfort over style. Shorts, and comfy shoes. I used to wear jeans all the time.
Not anymore.
Having climate appropriate clothing to change into before landing is a good idea.

I don't recall ever seeing anyone wear pyjamas in economy either.

I don't understand why comfort is such a concern. I don't feel any less comfortable wearing pleated pants, casual/business shirt and jacket with black leather shoes than I would wearing a t-shirt and shorts with running shoes.

It's not all about you though, John. People should be allowed to wear what THEY feel comfortable in.

I both like and agree.

Personally I feel most comfortable in some jeans, a shirt (with top pocket) and my jacket, and thus as much as possible that's what I'll wear on flights both short and long, but I also know that's not everyone's cup of tea, and as far as I'm concerned whatever you wish to wear especially on long haul is entirely up to you.

Since I don't check luggage, putting on my tracky-dack type PJ's keeps one's day clothes fresher. I do this in Y, W, J and F.

I seem to find cabins too hot most of the time so wear my travel clothes onto the plane and pack a pair of comfortable bonds shorts and a t-shirt I change into once airborne and want to sleep. I also use the slippers or thongs for out of seat travels.

I like to wear my velvet smoking jacket, what I do miss is my valet being able to dress me after take off. Sadly, these days, he must stay in economy.

I struggle to sleep in those seats. A little narrow for me and toss and turn yet if seat I'm upright I sleep longer.

On the one side, I agree with the sentiment that you can wear whatever you want - I know from my perspective that I judge fellow pax on their behaviour, not their attire.

As for wearing shorts, here I must disagree. That another pax wears shorts would not offend me, but I would never do it myself. I prefer to mimimize my skin contact with surfaces such as seat coverings that get almost no cleaning in their multi-year, millions of pax lifetime

I guess so; I’ve never slept a wink on a ‘plane sitting up, and tend to be generally pretty pissed-off by the end of the experience. But a J seat would be less constricting, my knees won’t be jammed up against the seat in front, and it looks like the everyone-gets-an-aisle-seat layout means no climbing over people nor a need to climb over people for toilet adventures ... so I may give sitting-up a try if lying-down fails, ta!

That’s pretty rough on your valet; I have been allowed in J, and am told I’ll be allowed to go up to F as long as it’s only for the purposes of dressing/undressing the master. Oh, and I do have to wear a paper bag over my head, but that’s a normal requirement.

I don't have a smoking jacket, but I hear you. Due to a personal low period, my three habitual concubines also get the Y treatment these days. It pains me for them, but....
