QFF Platinum requesting release of extra Classic Reward seats?

HKG has always been near impossible in December I've discovered historically

I've had J (and F back when it ran) seats released on HKG in December a few times. Usually requested at T-353

that would surely be because we're 6 months out?
I had no issues last year, it was wide open (that was in July)
I was able to get
  • QF79 MEL-NRT Dec 25 Business
  • QF26 HND-SYD Jan 5 Business
released with no issues. The surrounding dates (Dec 22, 23, 26, Jan 3, 4) were also available. Both were showing I1 on ExpertFlyer.

On the website there were zero Classic Rewards available for this time period in any class of travel (even Economy), so it was a pretty use of the benefit to get these released over the Christmas period.

As usual (these days), I went for a Classic Reward SYD-CGK to start a trip to Europe, starting in June '27.

Not. A. Cracker. Every day, sure a CR, but via Manila on PR. Ah! THATS what PR partnership was for!

I called to get a CR released on QF flight, gave a 3 day window. Wasn't hopeful, but all three days came back a yes. And I didn't know they would hold my selected day for a few days. :)

I’m seeing wide quite a bit of U availability in June 27 for QF metal. Not every day, but I count 10+ days in June.

Right! I see now they have released QF CRs @68.4K on most days up to the 12th of June - after that, only on PR via Manila for 108K up to 3 July. 11 June was the day I was after - wasn't there the day before yesterday, nor any day around it. I guess they lag the release of QF CRs.

Its been a very long time since I redeemed an international CR on Qantas (haven't had the points - only get QF points via flying QF these days), I'm not match fit! But they readily released the seat, which was the main thing for me.

Ex SYD plenty of QF metal. Just be aware that the seat release is a little staggered. Currently up to mid June whereas regular QF booking window runs to 24/25 June.

So just keep a daily eye out at 10am to see if your preferred day gets released.

CGK was back to old style release for a while (but not CRs every day) then I noticed the delayed release the other day. Last year they’d come out in monthly chunks.

You should also be able to get QF metal to MNL as another cheap stepping stone to Europe but more points (for the same SC earn if PC/PC+).

They've actually been pretty good on releases recently. Managed to get quite a few J releases on MEL - HKG and SYD - YVR for over the next 12 months without needing to ask for a review.

Definitely noticed this flood of PR over the last few weeks though: fair enough if they'd sort out a reciprocal to use lounges or some such until the OneWorld ascension goes through. Otherwise, really don't fancy a switch/stopover in Manila.

Yes, thanks - realised that on re-checking this morning, so my post just before you posted. :)

Manila is a step too far for me as an Asian stepping-off point.
