Hi all,

I've been trying to add a JL flight from KIX to TPE to an existing classic flight reward on the direct China Airlines flight TPE-MEL and have it reprice as a single award. I've talked to several agents, some have said it wasn't possible to change a point of origin internationally, one that priced at 26k points and several at 31k points. Given its a continuous journey, (no stopover) shouldn't it price out at 78k (KIX-TPE-MEL, Zone 6 J) - 65k (originally paid) + 5k (change fee) = 18k points? It might be something to do with the conditions of the China Airlines partnership, but Qantas happily offers itineraries between airlines that aren't both oneworld partners (MU and JL, for example). Does anyone have an idea of how to sort this out.

Thanks!

Welcome to AFF :) @furiousmango

No matter what, a transit/transfer involving China Airlines and JAL will price as the sum of two awards.

Check the definition of a "Trip" in the T&C's and how a "Trip" relates to classic awards.

Edit: Original post removed. I found the T&Cs serfty referred to which says a change in partner airlines does count as separate awards.
