Hi,

I understand cancelling a classic reward booking attracts a 5,000 points cancellation fee. Making a change attracts a 3,500 points fee or can be a $35 charge along with $80 service fee for an international flight change. My question is do I get the original taxes refunded back to my credit card or a Qantas credit voucher? for a date change it seems better for me to cancel and rebook.

Thanks for your assistance.

The credit card the fees/booking was paid on.

Also, I've cancelled 3 or so award bookings over last few weeks (online via manage my booking) and I haven't been charged the 5000 points. YMMV.

Great, thanks very much for the confirmation. It's probably best to cancel online, see if the 5,000 get missed and rebook the new date. Cheers.

I called the Customer Service to change my booking, as it won't allow me to change it online. Got charged the 3500 points per passenger. That was last Saturday. I got my points back today. Waiting for my money now.

I suspect the processing is done manually so it may get missed but then the refund of taxes may get missed too and when you ask for them you lose the 5,000 QFF points as well. ;)

If QF makes a schedule change can you get points/taxes reinstated without penalty?

Thanks.

Minor or significant change? If significant change such as 2 hours or more then definitely able to cancel without penalty.

Well I just got lucky the lovely phone agent waived the 3 X 6000 fees.
The schedule change was only 15min SYD-MEL aircraft swap to the 747 (BNK-SYD-MEL-DXB), She explained the penalty in points then I sheepishly mentioned schedule change. She replied "is this the reason for you cancelling the flights", again I sheepishly replied "yes" her response was.... "Good Answer) we laughed, then I quickly changed the subject to refund of taxes and made no mention of the 15min change.
:):D
