CitiBusiness Gold 'no longer available'

Interesting thought. If we now know that Citibusiness Gold customers can keep the card with an ABN.

Has anyone attempted to sign up as a new customer onto the Citibusiness Gold?

CBG was closed to new customers months ago...

Was my thought exactly but if they're now saying it's available to keep for those using it for business purposes.. I wonder if they've opened it up to new business sign-ups as well.

I've already got the card so it's no difference to me but just wondered :)

Ahh I see, I misunderstood. I suppose it's possible - reckon it's highly unlikely though.

Just sounds like Citibank may have decided the card was not viable but kept it alive for business customers (who I'm guessing they value above other customers as business spend grows at a faster rate than personal spend) which makes me wonder if they'd use the Citibusiness Gold as a tool of actively attaining new business customers.

Suppose it depends how much they value business customers? :)

Even if it is 10x more than personal customers it would be "not much."

A few days ago I phoned up Citibank to transfer some points to QF and asked about the possibility of adding an ABN (SMSF account) and keeping the account.
Was told no, the Citibusiness cards will not be available in the future .

I gave up and will call again.

I think someone earlier in this thread had difficulties on the normal contact number, try the number that was on the letter 1300 788 264.

Yes, that's also what happened to me. No joy unless you call the number on the letter.

Has anyone else noticed that when you visit the "Your CitiBusiness Card is changing" site CITIBANK AUSTRALIA it now includes a link to Diners Club:

For further information on our business products please call us on 1300 788 264 Monday-Friday 9am-5pm AEST, or visit Diners Club

Whilst it looks like the sweep to QFF remains, at the end of the day, it's a Diners Club card (with a MC at 0.5pt/$ earn)...

Not sure if this is the path those with an ABN who remain on CBG will be on, but it's pretty interesting, nonetheless.

Looks to me that even those of us who gave an ABN are still going to lose the CBG to this Diners Club/ Mastercard combo nonsense. Where in Sydney is Diners Club even accepted? Probably as many places as Amex, and with a stupid fee on every purchase. Thanks, but no thanks Citibank. Peace out.

Also, on that link you gave for the Signature card it says you can no longer transfer to the Qantas FF Program. So they are removing that option from the Signature Card. That is a new development. Looks like it is now just Select and this coughpy new Diners Club Card. Very disappointed in Citi, but you know it is Qantas that is driving this.

Not quite true... Amex acceptance isn't too bad, however I've had so much trouble with Diners that I only use it at Woolworths/Coles/Myer/DJs and online for hotels etc.

So yes it is a bit of a cough product still, however not a fair comparison with Amex

Again doesn't appear to be true re the Qantas earn - the 'microsite' linked to is marketing designed to show many of the cards benefits...

The Signature card certainly does appear to have Qantas as an option, however it requires you to pay an extra fee of $49 which applies to all their cards allowing QF earn.

I suspect the microsite doesn't refer to QF for a number of reasons including the extra fee (it is easier just to say your fee will remain the same) and also because whilst the KF and Virgin earn goes up if you go to Signature, your QF earn would go down should you choose that option...

After proving and ABN a few weeks ago rang up to see what was going on, only to be told I wouldn't be able to keep the CBG.

So after 10 years with them I'll be leaving. Seems they have no real interest in keeping customers as this time they didn't bother trying to keep me, then started going on about some disputed transactions from 3 years ago as a reason why I couldn't close my account right now.

I had a laugh when the girl said she hoped I'd consider a CB product in the future and I just said Citibank doesn't want my business anymore so why would I bother considering them in the future.

Looks like I need to nail the last 4000 points so that I can transfer to QF. I must admit I expected this to happen. 1.25 points per $ was too good to be true. :(

Yeah, it was certainly unique in the market in the post-QFF-mandate world. It's time for me now to transfer the last 60,000 Citi Rewards points across to QFF and then cut the CBG card up.

If anyone wants to throw out some suggestions on where to move to / which airlines to target I'm happy to mock up a little table as I did before in an attempt to compare which cards will provide us with the best benefit post-CBG.

Ok, So Amex isn't as bad as Diners club. But what I am comparing Amex to, and I have a Rewards Amex, is a Visa, Which is accepted everywhere, and which is the CBG Card which I am now losing. Great to hear Amex is accepted in some places, but generally I find when I use my Amex there is a processing fee associated with the cost. Not so with my CBG. I see your point on comparing it to a Diners Club however.

Ok, good call. I haven't really looked at the Signature site because I never got past the microsite that said you can't transfer to QFF anymore because the Signature card doesn't interest me, as with most Citi products that are not the CBG. Not going to lie, this pisses me off. Glad I did maximise the CBG while it lasted though. Time to build a bridge and move on.

have I missed something? iirc, nothing has changed with the CBG and ABN holders.

Read my post #250 in this thread. It looks like CBG customers who provided an ABN will be shunted off to Diners Club Land...
