CitiBusiness Gold 'no longer available'

They advised me that my Platinum card was already in make when I called CitiBank with my ABN & to ignore it if I actually receive it. Hopefully they will confirm the same when you call them.

Hi everyone,

Just joined the forum so I could post this!

I just called Citibank to quote my ABN and have my CBG card continue to exist (by calling the number, 1300 788 264, on the letter that was offering me a Signature card instead), and was told that this was fine, subject to the request being approved which they'll notify me of.

I was also told that I had until the end of the month to make this request, after that the option would no longer be available.

Decision time for anyone still undecided!

Called up customer service last month provided them with ABN, was told that I can keep the CBG. Received letter yesterday saying they'll convert the card to citiselect. On the phone with them right now to see what's going on.
Citi Select at the same fee? If so would be taking it personally!

I had a similar experience. They were very helpful when I said I had an ABN and they said that it was good that I called before October, because that seemed to be some kind of cut-off.

Also called beginning of the month and provided my ABN. ;)

Was advised that it has been approved and no changes to the card for me.

Its gonna be a signature, not a select IMHO.

I called up the 1300 number this morning after I received my Platinum card yesterday afternoon, received the latter just before I left for holidays. Was on the phone for 20 minutes but the operator did say not to worry about the platinum card I did receive and that I will receive a new CitiBusiness Gold card within 7 days. All I needed to do was provide my ABN and he advised my that nothing will change with your new CBG when it arrives, everything stays the same. Make sure you call the 1300 number though and not the main CitiBank line as they will flat out tell you it's not possible.

I do wonder how long CitiBank will run with the CitiBusiness Card. As far as I'm aware, the only users who managed to keep theirs are those who read this forum. If CitiBank managed to push 98% of users to their other card offerings ................ how long will they run with the CitiBusiness Card?

Also, will the consumer protections remain in place given that CitiBank now know we are using these cards for business purposes?

Time will tell.

I wonder if I can use the ABN from the company that I am CEO? Not my own company, but I use the card for business use from time to time.

You shouldn't have a problem with Citi on this, my wife has her own card (primary card holder) and gave my ABN / ACN where I am the sole director of the company. She uses the card for company expenses of course.

I have been a Citi customer since 2006 and have always held multiple Citi cards at once - as I always pay the cards on time I have never had to worry about increasing my credit cards limits. I must say that after spending earning in excess of 100k points each year for the last few years that its disappointed to be downgraded to the platinum card - whereby you can no longer transfer to Qantas and the transfer rate to SQ and Velocity has increased from 1.5 to 1 to 2 to 1

I'm happy. I just received my replacement CitiBusiness Gold card this afternoon. Everything's exactly the same and I also just transferred my QFF points yesterday and their already in my qantas account.

Call Citibank on Monday (must do as offer to keep CitiBusiness Card expires on 1st October) using the 1300 number supplied with you letter. Advise them of your ABN & Citibank should allow you to keep your CitiBusiness card without any rewards changes. If you don't have an ABN for yourself/company/trust then you are probably out of luck.

My wife received the letter a few months ago stating that her CitiBusiness card would be replaced with a Platinum in September.

Lo and Behold a new CitiBusiness card arrives in the mail yesterday wit an expiry of 2016.

Unfortunately I only saw this thread after 1st October. I can indeed confirm that when I called the 1300 number, they were not able to let me retain my CitiBusiness card as it was past the cutoff date... :( I was actually using it purely for my business too. Oh well.

Well I just had a pleasant, if accidental, CBG experience: used the card for the first time in ~9 months (points cap finally reset) and discovered that Citi appear to have "forgotten" to remove the bonus-point-per-dollar-until-the-end-of-2012 I was offered when I threatened to cancel last year. So, I have a 2.25 QF point per $1 spent Visa card again for a while!

Can't argue with that!
