Well there you go - my wife just got approved after less than 24 hours and I'm still waiting 4 days later. I can't work out why this always happens.
I applied last Thursday and received a phone call today asking mainly verification questions such as old addresses and the name of a recent bank I applied for a card or mortgage with. Was approved a couple of hours later. Seems like a certain number of applicants get put through this process whereas other are approved/denied instantly.

No activity on Credit Savvy, so hopefully it didn't get to a credit check.

Disappointing though - this was an ideal card to churn.
Credit Savvy normally takes day/weeks to update it's activity. I'd be certain you will get a credit check

Seems to be a pretty quick application process unlike the Citibank I have dealt with in the past

Provisionally approved on the spot, waiting on email to advise what documents they want me to provide

Got declined :( First time this happens to me. Got a citi credit card like 3 years ago.
I churned 5 credit cards in the last 12 months, two are Qantas premier, backed by citibank)
I guess that's too much for citibank...
Anyone in a similar situation (or worse) managed to get approved?

Declined also. Could only be because of previous application history, still have a very strong credit rating, income is more than enough, but I've had 5 cards over the last 12 months (only 2 still active). Credit limits probably aren't ideal on the 2 that are active but I'd guess it was more the amount of applications.

Looks like the partner will have to take the credit hit on this one

Does anyone have any feedback on the international exchange rate on purchases on this card?

Pretty happy with the exchange rate with the Citibank Plus Transaction card on ATM withdrawals overseas – hoping it's a similar rate with purchases (not cash withdrawals) on this signature card?

Applied Sunday, got a call Tuesday to confirm some details which I did.
Got an email late tuesday night saying i was declined.
It's definitely alot harder to churn these days. At least for me.

Hi Bradley

I've had a small number of friends apply for the card and having been declined shortly after. Have you recently applied or currently have the Qantas Premier card? I ask because they seem to think that it may be due to recently (within the past few months) applying for the Qantas Premier card, which is issued by the Citibank Group.

Oh yes, i have had that card, and i would have applied for that card again possibly 3 months ago which again i was declined. Last year i applied for 4-5 cards in a row. All approved, no issues. Now, i applied for the basic Jetstar card with 20k bonus points and i was declined, it seems to have gotten much more strict in the past 6 months.

Seems like it. Like you there was a period where I had a similar amount of cards in a year. Since then I've had to take a step back just to make sure my credit rating isn't affected too much and there's a buffer of a few months before I sign up to a new card. That or I'm paranoid.

Might have spoken too soon and should have remembered I was dealing with Citibank

Asked for payslips and other sources of income. Provided as requested and also included some dividend statements as I have shares in the company I work for. Nothing really unusual so far

Got a phone call today. "You have shares in your company so you must be an owner/director not an employee. We have changed your status from employee to business owner and you need to supply company accounts for the last 2 years"

Tried to explain that the company I work for is ASX20 listed and that I am definitely an employee. She could not be convinced, said she would refer my application to her supervisor but did not think they would be able to progress

The definition of stupidity, doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. When am I going to learn?

Applied for this one last night, fingers crossed it's not too painful (or slow)!

Well less than 12 hours later (without even providing a payslip or anything) I have been approved!

I'd expect the exchange rate will be the same, but there is a 3.4% international exchange rate - so it's not a good card for shopping overseas or online. Your Citibank Plus card has no exchange fee at all (I have one, too).

I finally got approved for my card - it took a whole week! That's the longest it's ever been for me to get an approval. My wife's application took less than 20 hours to be approved (approved on Tuesday) and she already has her card (it's Thursday).

I went into the online portal to try to make sure that this is actually the Qantas rewards card, because none of the documentation mentioned Qantas nor the bonus points. I went to the section for "Miles Registration" and it appears she was registered for Qantas Frequent Flyer, except they had MY account number, not hers! I wonder if there was some weird Google Chrome form fill issue when I filled in her application form on my computer... Weird. I've corrected it now so hopefully everything will be ok. I might call tomorrow to confirm.

Well all is forgiven (almost!)

Application approved, has been successfully linked to my online facility and all details including Qantas info seems to be correct. Now just need card to arrive, hit the spend and bank the points

Approval not as quick as others (3 days) but by Citibank standards, not bad so maybe they are getting better. As an aside, noted application on Credit Savvy within 12 hours of applying with a small drop in my score.

I got 6 points on my credit score as a result of the application.
