Macquarie - decline. Bankwest - had to haggle to get 5k+ to qualify for platinum. Citi Signature $50k. Good to see the Aussie banks have stricter underwriting criteria than the US.

I agree that despite the protestations of some banks are declining people they think won't be able to pay the loans!

What is it with Banks and CC credit limits nowadays?

Example 1: I had Alt Black with 30K limit - cancelled it and applied for new Alt Black to get 2 x pts - no prob they give me new card with 30K limit - and on cancelling first ask me to I want to transfer my 30K limit to new card - er OK - so now I got 60K limit. I also had WSQ Plat Amex / Visa with 50K limit - call up and cancel - would you like us to transfer your limit over to Alt Black - er OK - now I goy Alt Black with 110K limit.

Example 2: Applied for the Citi Signature to get the 80K QFF pts - no prob getting card with 30K limit - banked pts and call to cancel - would you like us to transfer your 30K limit over to Select which also had 30K limit - er OK - then get email from Citi asking last 2 tax assessments - call Citi why you want these? Cause we need these for your limit increase applic - er OK - email them through - 2hrs later log into Citi and select limit now shows 60K limit.

Never before have I seen banks so keen to increase CC credit limits - anybody else experiencing same?
At least you can get points as you could now buy a small house.

***please note this post is not relating to the NEW citibank signature reward qantas rewards credit card which was introduced after May 2014***

Hello everyone

I'm having a small issue with Citibank at the moment and I'm hoping this wonderful community will be able to provide me with some knowledge.

The situation is that I applied for the Citibank Signature Rewards credit card back when there was the 80,000 QFF points promotion and the reduced annual fee of $299.00 (around March 2014).

When the card was issued to me, there was a small booklet with information on the earn rate of Qantas points which stated that you would receive an ADDITIONAL 1 QFF point per dollar spent on Qantas products. So in essence, you would receive 2 QFF points per dollar spent on Qantas products.

Citibank are now claiming that this was never the case and that in order to attain the additional points I'm entitled to (I recently booked a few thousand dollars worth of Qantas flights on the card), I need to send proof that this was written in the booklet (of which I'm positive it was).

I'm would be ever so grateful if anyone who has this booklet handy could upload a picture or something so I can prove to Citibank that they need to honour the points structure that they advertised. I have also confirmed that there have been no terms and conditions changes since I opened the card in March 2014.

Thanks everyone and hopefully this gives me a win! :)

I don't have the booklet in front of me - I'll check when I get home but the web site made no reference to bonus points

Thanks LittleFokker - I remember that the website didn't make reference too it but I definitely recall reading it in the little booklet they provided with the welcome kit. I'd really appreciate it if you're able to locate your copy and check :)

Cheers.

You're in luck - I usually throw these out, but still had it in my bottom drawer from some reason:

BillytheFIsh - you have 100% made my day! Thank you so much for taking the time locate your copy and upload this!

Citibank will regret the day they ever questioned an AFF member about point earn rates :)

No problem.

On the topic of this deal, has the universal response to calling up to cancel this card been an offer to waive the annual fee?

I actually want to keep the card for VA/SQ earn (I switched over to Citirewards after the 80k QF points had posted) and have been using it quite a bit for every day expenses, but $299 back in my pocket would be nice.

I actually phoned Citibank about a month after I had the 80K QFF points and informed them that I had come across their 'Fee Free for Life promotion' and that if I wasn't transferred to this, I would simply close my card and take my business elsewhere. I also said that a friend had phoned and was successfully converted over and that it would be inequitable if they were not to offer me the same deal. Before I knew it, they credited my account with $299 and confirmed that I'll never pay an annal fee again. A great reason to keep the card.

Citibank are so desperate to get a share of the Australian market that they will literally do anything you ask them to. As far as I'm aware, the 'Fee Free for Life promotion' has ended, but there is no harm in phoning and trying.

Let me know how you get on.

Just a reminder as its tax time that Citibank do not award reward points for ATO payments.
So unless you have a card that you are sure does, save yourself the credit card processing fee and just use BPAY.

I still have cards that pay out on ATO but yes don't bother using Australian Citi cards as it will probably get you dust.

I have also got my 80000 points for $49 after the $299 was refunded after I rang to cancel - thanks to all the contributors to this thread! On my way to a J RTW!

I've sent letters (yes some people still do), faxes, internet contact us and emails requesting this, largely because I really hate the call centre. Works for most other banks but Citiwank no go. Really not keen to ring the no service centre! But I may have to to get my annual fee removed.

Citi seem worse than ever... I lodged an ombudsman complaint regarding an issue about 4 weeks ago and I still haven't heard from them.
