Citibank Reward Points to QFF

Have you got Janet's direct number?

I have also been knocked back on the fee-free Platinum upgrade after myself deciding that there was no need to bother when the card turned up in the mail last year. I have since resorted to applying independently for a new Plat card with the first year's fee waived ... so that gives me a year to keep ringing Citibank until I find Janet and get the fee-free-for-life Plat upgrade. The $19 is worth it and I will transfer my Gold points across so that they all get swept to QFF.

Trouble is .... now that I have a Plat Mastercard and Gold Visa will there be any issues with upgrading the Visa to Platinum as well? Do they care how many Citibank cards you have (apart from the usual credit checks)?

Shouldn't be a problem. I'm currently holding three cards with them, silver mastercard, gold mastercard and a platinum visa (this used to be gold before the upgrade). Had a gold visa before that was linked with a diners card. Decided to cancel that since the gold visa wasn't fees free (though the diners was and getting me 1.25 points per dollar).

Called the customer service centre this morning. Told that the minimun transfer is still 10,000 point to QFF. I only have 4K in my platinum (fee free for life upgraded from Gold card). Ask about whether they can waive the $19 annual fee for the new direct QFF transfer program if I am a CitiGold customer, but they reply 'NO'.
Any suggestion or any special number that I can call to reach the new QFF program hotline?

If you are a CitiGold customer then you should know who to speak to - ie your relationship manager.

I'm not a CitiGold customer but Westpac has something similar and I usually speak to my relationship manager to complain about fees....

Has anyone figured out where the points activity page is on their site????

I can see the redemption activity page. BUt nothing showing how many points and when were earned.

My last statement (3/3/09) says one thing and the Rewards site balance on the top right says another. ...
Your points tally used to be shown as soon as you enter the "REWARDS" area. It no longer does.

It seems you actually have to click through as far as the redemption page to see how many points you have.

i.e.
  1. Sign on
  2. Click "Account Services"
  3. Click "Rewards"
  4. Click "Travel & Adventure"
  5. Click "Redeem Now"
The next screen shown should reveal how many reward points you have available beside "Reward points balance:" to the upper right of the window.

FWIW, yesterday ~Noon I transferred 10K points. They were in my QFF account this morning. Unless things change, this will be the last time I transfer Citi Rewrds to QFF - &%$*^%ed if I'm gunna pay $19 pa for the privilege. I already get plenty from actually flying.

There's actually a faster way. Just click "Redemption activity" in the left column.

Yep I know there is a balance - but nowhere that I can find is there a history of how many points were earned and when - like with all other cards I have ever had. Given my balance is 7154, there is no way for me to tell whether that is correct or not. So I gotta take Citi at their "word" .

Interesting - so do you feel there is a better use for the REWARDS points? Nothing in their "mall" is of value (usually highly overpriced even not taking into account the terrible conversion rate)....SQ?

$1000 flight center voucher for 136,000 points is a good deal IMO.

Same point value on QF puts 136K points at around $1200 value, so for $200 difference you get points + SC for it too.

I cashed out a FC voucher and the rest into QF.

$19 for QF transfer ontop of $250 is a bit rich though.

I wouldn't consider that a good deal ... for 140k+++ you get an ATW, which has a base price (minus +++) of around $3,500

Ok, so I have been a little lazy and initially scoffed at the thought of being locked into using my points for QFF only. Here is my question, is it an "Opt in now or you can never do it again in the future" or can you "opt in later and transfer any rewards points across"? Hope someone can help!

... missed that; have not explored the new layout much.

Besides, this was my first (and probably only) redemption with this card, so "Redemption Activity" drew a blank.

I believe March 31 is the deadline, unless your program continues to offer choice e.g. Ascent Premium (AMEX, only comes with the Platinum Charge Card).

Very few will offer a choice, so I fear March 31 will be your D-Day.

Edit: although I believe with the Citibank Plat C/C you have the choice to opt-in to QFF at any time, but at a cost of $19.

Not really; I already have the Qantas ANZ Visa with direct sweep.

Since the Citi Card is fee free "for life" I'll basically stop using it, perhaps as a backup Visa card. My primary card is 1½ point/$ Amex.

+ tax!

I'm not a RTW traveller but spend most of my time doing point to point travel it's rather useless even considerring RTW.

I guess it's all subjective!

Here you go, just received this from Qantas.

Changes to the way you can earn Qantas Frequent Flyer points with Citi Rewards
Please note, CitiBusiness Cardholders are not affected by these changes.

Hello Daniel

If your Citibank Credit Card is not a CitiBusiness Credit Card, you will no longer be able to redeem your Citi Rewards points for Qantas Frequent Flyer points* after 31 March 2009. If you have any Citi Rewards points which you wish to transfer into your Qantas Frequent Flyer account, please call Citibank before this date*.

Introducing Citi Qantas Rewards

After 31 March, if you want to continue earning Qantas Frequent Flyer points with your credit card, Citibank is offering a new rewards option - Citi Qantas Rewards# - which is linked to the Citi Platinum Credit Card.

When you choose Citi Qantas Rewards, all the points you earn will automatically transfer to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account on your statement date each month. And if you opt-in to Citi Qantas Rewards before 31 March, you can choose to have all your existing Citi Rewards points transferred too.

Things you should know

Opting-in to Citi Qantas Rewards carries an annual fee of $19 charged by Citibank. This is in addition to the Platinum annual fee (currently at $250). If you opt-in after 31 March 2009, any Citi Rewards points you have at the time cannot be transferred to Qantas Frequent Flyer and will therefore expire. Please remember that once you have opted in, you will no longer be able to access the existing Citi rewards. • If you're an existing Platinum Citi Rewards Cardholder, simply call Citibank on 1800 818 008 and opt-in to Citi Qantas Rewards. • If you're not a Platinum Citi Rewards Cardholder, you will need to call 13 24 84 to upgrade~ to a Citi Platinum Card and then opt-in to Citi Qantas Rewards. For any further information on the changes, please go to qantas.com/choose or call the Qantas Frequent Flyer Service Centre on 13 11 31.

Yours sincerely

Got the esame email from QF:rolleyes:. :evil:thumbs down to you QF! Remember in this tough economic climate, alienate your customers at your own peril!

So has anyone asked (and had answered) the question - If you opt in now and after a year or two decide it's not worth it can you opt out again and go back to standard CIti Rewards accumulation?

Just rang Citibank, happened to get the (in)famous Gwen, who readily agreed to upgrading my Gold card to Platinum Rewards for free. However my $119.00 annual fee will still apply. Cheers, Barnaby

That's been asked many times, but I am unable to find it documented (& I would not take a verbal comment from an Agent as gospel).
