Citibank Plus - No Fee No Overseas Transaction Fee Account

Re: Citibank Everyday Plus - Free overseas ATM withdrawals!

ANZ are pretty good at fee gouging overseas, I doubt it would have been cheaper. Definitely pricey in Fiji.

In fact, if my memory serves, ANZ may have the only bank owned machines in all of SIN that try to charge a fee...

I think BSP would have been the better deal. Last time I was in PNG, ANZ charged me PGK35 for withdrawing cash at their ATMs (about $A15 at the time). Can't see them being any better in the Cook Islands; in fact, ANZ is the last bank I would go to in the Pacific.

Glad to know I made the right choice. Thanks.

I needed some XPF yesterday and could only find one ATM at the PPT terminal. It was owned by La Banque Socredo and I fully expected a fee.
Imagine my surprise when the transaction produced the cash in 30 seconds and no fee

I have added a few new entries to the spreadsheet I have seen referenced on a page somewhere in this thread. For those who haven't discovered it yet, I will just let you know that there are no fees with Otto (Finland) or SEB / Swedbank (Estonia).

digging up a old thread.

I have read a few other threads on here about bad experiences with Citi when it comes to fraud and the resolution. I have been using this card on my many travels around the world without issues and always get great exchange rates . I am currently based in Berlin long term and use this card a bit for online transactions - German banks don’t have a Visa- MC debit card.

I woke to a missed call on the 2nd of August, upon investigation I found it was from Citibank. I then logged onto my account to see that over 1200AUD had been taken via various cash transactions in the Caribbean. I called them straight away to find my account had already been blocked. I had already advised them that I am in Germany, so they knew it was fraud immediately. On the call they advised it could be up to 6 weeks for the funds to be returned to me, I advised that this was not a good situation for me and asked if this could be resolved faster. Fast forward to the 11[SUP]th[/SUP] August….. I have now received a new card and the funds have been returned to my account.

I know many on here have had some bad experiences with Citi, but I could not be happier with the resolution of my issue especially the time taken when I am on the other side of the world.

I have some money on this card but I think it it is OK w' regard to inactivity. But, I want to take the cash out without spending it (as no points). How do I get my money 'back?

10.6 Inactive Accounts in debit or with a nil balance. If your Account has not been operated on by depositor withdrawal for a period of at least 6 months, andyour Account is either in debit (apart from a securedoverdraft) or has a nil balance, Citibank may close yourAccount without any prior written notice to you.

Can't you transfer it to another bank account? Or withdraw it from an ATM?

I might be missing the point, but that clause presumably doesn't apply since your account sounds like it's in credit - i.e. since there's money in it. You can leave this account open with some balance in it and it shouldn't be closed unilaterally by the bank.

If there is money in the account, they won't close it. But Citibank do sometimes deactivate accounts if they are not used for six months, and it can take a phone call to make it work again.

Yep, $1 should do it.

You could try to do a transfer but i have had difficulty withdrawing cash from the atm with 6months inactivity
you have to ring them up to reactivate the card

My Citibank Plus account was never deactivated by Citibank even though it has no money and I haven't used it for more than a year. However I do have a fee free Signature credit card that I use regularly. I think that keeps my Citi Plus account active all these years.

I received an email today telling me that my replacement debit card will be a Mastercard instead of VISA. I wonder if this will have much impact on the exchange rate used for overseas ATM withdrawals...?
